All, Beware of Marlo furniture and any guarntees that they they make. The only guarantee that you can count on, is a guaranteed piece of junk in which it will take month's or even years to overcome.

My story is as follows. I ordered furniture on 7-9-99 with the guarantee of all furniture to be delivered by 9-15-99. It took almost 3 hours to write up the order and get through the the cashier station, and when we came in we knew exactly what we were going to order! Piece by piece my furniture made it to the various warehouses and piece by piece i attempted to pick up these pieces.

I had to make an appointment to pick up my furniture which having worked a s a delivery manager for belfort furniture was totally unheard of to me. it is supposed to be so that they can inspect and have it ready when you get there, what a joke. I still had to wait over an hour to find out that my furnture was mis labeled and /or broken when they pulled it off the shelf.

I finall got my sofa around 11-15-99 followed by the loveseat the next week. From there it took until feb 2000 before the armoire, cofee and end tables showed up and my desk unit showed up and delivered in pieces two weeks later. This was the first problem with the armoire, since this time i have had two sets of end tables, three new desks that were all damaged before they brought the floor model out in a futile attempt to make me semi satisfied. But the real challenge has been the armoire, i have been through five armoires that either showed up damaged or not even the right one.

All the while i have taken off time from work and wasted more time than any consumer in there right mind should have. To this day I am still waiting for a decent armoire to finish my living room and put my tv and stereo away the way that i had envisioned. Please keep in mind that for 18 months i worked in this business and I am very sympathetic to the issues that they dea with but even on the worst order that we ever had , on custom made furniture i still an 11 months longer than any other order that i have ever seen.

Please do not ever order anything from marlo's as they will screw you the way they have hundreds and thousands of other consumers. I am not nor havew I ever heard of any person that has had even a pleasant experience let alone a satisfying experience when dealing with this company, which explains the 1 1/2 hour wait to get through the customer service waiting line on the phone and two hour wait at the store. Buyer beware this is the worst company in the furniture business.

I worked at the Rockville store for about 8 months as the Customer Service Manager. I was told repeatedly to lie to customers about the following:

1. Availibiility of furniture - sales reps would sale items that were out of stock and were not due to be in stock for several months or better yet we had no idea of when it was coming.

2. I personally would call customers two days before delivery only to call them back the day of delivery to say we didn't have the furniture (because we sold it to someone else, after the original customer had purchased it, but the second customer spent more money than the first, so guess who got the furniture?)

3. Customers would receive the same damage furniture repeatedly.

4. We would charge for scotchguard and most of the time it was not done.

There are so many things that we did it is impossible to name. The job was so stressfull I quit because I got tired of getting threatened by the customers.

You guys are absolutely right. Marlo's has a chronic and massive problem handling it's own business and customers. I have been trying to get them to deliver me a living room set in good condition for months!!! Make sure you write to the BBB and file a complaint on consumeraffairs.org (they can help you get a lawyer if you need one). Also, planetfeedback.com will send your complaint direct to the president so you don't have to deal with that Chris Stevens schmuck in customer service. That in combination with this organization (bad business bureau) is great exposure and it really helps everybody. Good Luck and Keep Fighting!!!

marlo cutsomer services, option 7 for waranty repair will allow you wait for over an hour and cut you off automatically. Worst of all, tried other option and they will tell you that "YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE OPTION 7". No place to complain.
