I wanted a bike with a motor.  We found one on the internet for $160 but we wanted to support our community so we decided to buy local.  My wife called them up and they said they had a motor that had to be taken off of a bike and they could let us have it for $220.  When we got to the store they said we must have been mistaken because they couldn't sell it for less than $260.  We went ahead and bought it.

They gave it to us in a box without instructions.  They said all the parts were in the box.  I looked and said there wasn't a muffler.  They then got a muffler and put in the box.  I downloaded the instructions and had my mechanic put it together.  He came back to me and said that the gas cap was broken and we were missing some parts.  However, he had everything almost put together.

So we took it back to the store.  The guy at the counter said that since it was almost finished they could go ahead and just finish it and it would cost about $50.  A couple days later I called to check on it and I was told that there were no missing parts and that my mechanic had stripped a screw.  They said that normally they would charge $250 to fix it but they would nice and only charge $180.  I thought that was curious because that is exactly what we were originally quoted for a full install.  I told them I would just pick it up.  They then said that they had already done the work and they would have to charge the $250.  After a heated exchange, I finally told them that the work order stated that by state law they had to give us a written estimate if the repair was over $100.  Since we weren't given an estimate like that, I asked to show me the written estimate with our signiture.  Of course, he couldn't so we paid the $100 and picked up the bike.

When I picked up the bike, it was still missing some parts.  They had used a plastic tie instead of the clamp that was suppose to come with the bike.  They still hadn't finished the install, the cuttoff switch wasn't hooked up and what they did do, was done very poorly.  They didn't even use locking washers and so many of the nuts they put on came loose.

I filed a report with the BBB and their response was one lie after another.  They said that originally we saw the motor running on a bike and that it wasn't missing any parts ( Since, I never did get all the parts, I can still show anyone the juryrigged work around for the missing parts. ) They lied about almost everything that happened.

Last week, one of their nuts came off the bike because it wasnt a locking nut.  My mechanic didn't know where else to get the nuts so he went back to them and they charged him $20 for two nuts!!!!
