Complaint Review: Marriott Aruba Ocean CLub

Marriott Aruba Ocean CLub FRAUD from Marriott Vacation CLub who sold units in Aruba Ocean Club without telling owners the building sat as a shell for 5 years in the Aruba elements, now owners are being hit with 35% MF increase and assesment fees. THey refuse to accept responsibility they sold a defective building. Roof has leaked since day 2 and the building was not properly waterproofed. Aruba

Marriott has sold units in the Aruba Ocean club without telling people they building they were buying into was not built by Marriott. Instead what has been uncovered is the building sat as a shell for 5 years exposed to the elements. Marriott came in and then built the skin.

What they did not do is replace the roof or properly waterproof the building. Since the Ocean Club opened there have been leaks and constant water damage from the rain. Most recently there was 200k in damages due to TS Omar. The owners have had to pay for all the damage due to the leaks. I have an engineering report produced by Marriott engineers showing the cause of the leaks

All of a sudden the owners are getting hit with a 35% increase in MF and 2 assessments totaling 800- 1200. All of a sudden 10 years after the Ocean Club opened we are being hit with repair work to replace the roof. The surf club says their roof will last 25 years. Marriott needs to pay for the roof and all the associated damage that has occurred over the years due to the defective roof. If they did we would not have the assessments or as high of an increase.

Calls to Marriott have gone unanswered. They keep pushing you back to the board who seems to be in bed with Marriott so the owners are screwed. Marriott has lost their focus on customers. Even our board is not fighting for the owners.

At one point in time the board was going to sue Marriott for the defective building and other items, but now they say the building isnt defective. I have a copy of the filing where they say the building was defective. You have to ask yourself why they now say the building isnt defective.

Why were people not informed of the status of the building they were buying, sounds like FRAUD to me.
