my son and i were scheduled (and paid in full) for the marshall sylver turning point seminar in dallas. we have been trying to see marshall sylver for years but due to my son's lawschool commitment, finally looked forward to this dallas seminar. we were paid in full, made plane reservations and hotel reservations. we cleared our busy schedules to meet up together in dallas as he and i live in different parts of the country.

i was called two days ago (3 days before getting on the flight) and told marshall sylver would not be attending. two different people gave me two different reasons, one was a double booking the other was a personal emergency. they were sending someone in his place.

this was a large commitment on our parts and we did not want to see a stand in so we cancelled our plans and flights and other reservations which ended up costing us $180 in the plane reservations changes.

i immediately contacted the marshall sylver company to ask them to reimburse me for the plane fees as this change occurred on their part and not mine. i was immediately denied.

this company promotes wealth, so i would assume they have the resources while people like myself go to learn not to be mislead and then denied the reimbursement for their error or changes in venue.

Once you attend a Turning Point

You can attend them again over and over again at your convenience at no charge.

You made the decision not to attend the seminar after THEY CONTACTED YOU to inform you of the change in who would be speaking. Does not matter the reason why the speaker changed AT THE LAST MINUTE.

My guess is the first person told you scheduling conflict because they did not feel comfortable communicating to strangers about a personal emergency.

I work in a similar field and have had people pull the same BS you are about how much they were inconvienced by a last minute change to due to personal emergency.

You made a choice that cost you money. They are under no obligation to pay you for your cancellation fees.

You both should have attended the Dallas session and then attend it again when it was scheduled at time with Marshall speaking.

Yes Marshall is a fabulous speaker as I have attended 2 Turning Point sessions myself and I plan to return as others have over and over again.

Of course they won't reimburse you. They didn't cancel the seminar, they just knew this one guy wouldn't be there. That doesn't mean the seminar wouldn't have still served it's purpose. You would have gotten the same thing out of it if you would have gone anyway. On a side note, I'm so glad you mentioned your son in law school because that would mean there is at least one person in your family that can spell and use propper grammer and punctuation because, well let's face it, you obviously have more to learn.
