I broke down on my Yamaha R6 Motorcycle near Corona CA on my way to Palm Springs. I stopped by a motorcycle shop and picked up a new battery, since that seemed to be the problem. However once I arrived in Palm Springs, the bike broke down again and a friend of mine recommended Coyne Power Sports, what a mistake.

First they misdiagnosed the issue and stated that all I needed was a new battery, so I purchased a new battery. Then I was told that it was actually the stater, so I told them at that time to be sure and give me the battery I had just purchased, so I could get a refund. I doubted at this time that the battery was bad considering I had just purchased it. Also I told them I was in town only a couple of days and was told they would work on the bike. They never got to the bike, so I had to go out of town for a few months and leave it to be repaired.

The end result was I paid over $1,000.00 in total for the repairs and a new battery. Once I picked up the bike ( a few months later because I was out of town in another state) the bike broke down on me yet again with similar issues just miles from the dealership. Reluctantly I permitted Coyne to work on my bike again, and when the bike was finished I asked for the battery to be returned and was told by their service manager that they would get the battery back to me.

Weeks past by and the owner, Marti Coyne, contacted me to tell me that too much time had passed and that the battery was gone. Considering I believed the battery not to be bad in the first place, I requested that it be replaced. This reasonable request was flatly denied, the staff and the owner was rude and short with me, telling me it was only a $30.00 battery. That might be what they pay wholesale, but that battery cost me over $70.00. I warned them I would report their unscrupioulous activity, and they just laughed. Don't bring your bike to them, don't buy a new bike from them. They will rip you off!

Here are the facts:

1. I told Kristy at the onset that I would be needing back my battery, not months later. This is flat out a lie.

2. I made it clear I was an out of state customer with a limited time to stay in Palm Springs. Promised repair dates werent met and I was forced to go back home.

3. Calls were returned. Another lie.

The bottom line is Coyne refuses to take responsibility for their error and Instead would prefer to argue over a 75.00 battery instead of make it right for a customer who spent over 1,000.00 with them (via both of their locations) rather than just make things right. Do not bring your bike to them!

   Mr Marquardt purchased a non-factory battery at another dealership and assumed that his battery was the issue with his motorcycle.  When he brought in the bike, there was no way for us to diagnose the issue without another battery, since the one he installed had been ruined by the bad stator. (It wasn't a misdiagnosis since we did need a new battery to get the bike running.)  After he authorized the new battery we were about to determine the stator was the root cause of the problem and Mr. Marquardt allowed us to continue to repair his motorcycle.

   His motorcycle was repaired in accordance with his wishes and we called to inform him that he could come in and pick up his bike.  At that time we discovered that Mr. Marquardt had moved out of state and was not returning phone calls.  Approximately 6 weeks after the repairs were made, Mr. Marquardt finally contacted Coyne Powersports and let us know that he was unable to pick up the bike himself and he would make arrangements to have the motorcycle picked up by a relative. (Never in those conversations were we told that he wanted his original battery back.)  An additional two weeks went by (8 weeks now in total since his repairs were completed) and we had to contact Mr. Marquardt again to try to make arrangements for delivery and payment.  Coyne Powersports made an agreement that if Mr. Marquardt would
give us a telephone payment we would waive the now accrued storage fees and deliver the motorcycle free of charge to his relatives house.  It was at that time that Mr. Marquardt requested the core so he could return the battery to the original place of purchase.  Since so much time had elapsed, our recycler had long since picked up his old battery and it was an unreasonable request to try to recover it.  BAR regulations clearly state that if any used parts are requested to be returned to the customer it must be requested in writing at the time of the estimate.  It is unreasonable to expect a
dealership to know Mr. Marquardt's thoughts when he was out of communication for so long.  Coyne Powersports gave Mr. Marquardt a free delivery ($80 value), waived his storage fees (which had accrued to just over $800) and waited over two month for payment on the completed repairs.  And now he threatens a report on RipOffReport.com?  An individual who is not willing to communicate and withhold payment on the repairs made to his motorcycle by an honest dealership is certainly an individual that you should be reading about on RipOffReport.com.
