Complaint Review: Martin Rodriguez Esperanza Landscape And Garden 818 300 1022

RUN, DON'T WALK AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM MARTIN RODRIGUEZ AND ESPERANZA LANDSCAPING. We had the owner (Martin Rodriguez) come out twice to confirm the estimate and make sure we both agreed on the work he was doing. During his first visit I saw him put down a beer in his car, that should have been my first clue but he came recommended so I brushed it aside. He promised to dig three trenches, plant 5 fruit tree's, plant grass, plant little flowers, fix sprinklers and plant twenty 24" Podocarpus tree's. All for 4000$. We gave him the deposit of 2000$ which is 50%. He came with 4 people and did the trenches as promised. Then he delivered the trees which were NOT the ones we wanted. They were way smaller and cheaper. I told him they had to go back and they were not the ones we agreed upon. So then he started getting mad and saying he ran out of money and the big ones are more expensive. So I said ok return these and I will go buy the big ones and deduct their price(1500$) from the next check so he would only be getting 500$ to finish the rest of the work. He comes to plant the trees and says he will fix the sprinklers the next day. I then call him on the phone asking where the rest of the things he promised are including the fruit tree's, fixing the sprinklers, planting flowers, planting grass. He says he ran out of money and wants more money. When I tell him I'll pay him the rest after he finishes he just hangs up and doesn't call me back or pickup the phone from any of my calls.

I've already filed a complaint against his company with the state and city because he is doing landscaping / irrigation work without a license WHILE SCAMMING PEOPLE. AND I caught him drinking on the job while planting. He is a complete liar and will take your hard earned money without giving you back what he promised. He will also tell you that what you discussed he can't remember or that you wanted something else which is cheaper.
