We would like to add our voice to the others out there who have had Marvin Windows and Doors rot out. We installed a huge number of windows in our new home in 1996 and since then our windows have rotted out. There is so much ice on them in the window you can scrap it off with your fingers. The same with the black mold and rotten wood on the windows. Marvin will not honor the warranty and we are very upset. Misery loves company.

I am a contractor in MN and I deal with all the problems winter can throw at a home every year.

I am surprised to learn that Marvin windows did not stand behind their warranty in your case.  The windows I installed in 2002 had an issue with their sashes, so I contacted Marvin within the ten year period (in 2012) allotted by their warranty. They replaced all the windows in my entire house.

I can only imagine that Marvin determined the window did not fail, but rather your home's condition created the problem.

A thought on your "iced up" windows......You will want to check, double check, and monitor your winter indoor humidity levels.  No matter what window you install, if you are creating high humidity levels in your house during winter, you will have ice forming on the windows.  As the temp drops outside, you have to decrease your humidity or this will get even worse, not because the windows are failing, but because the difference in humidity levels from inside the house to outside the house is greater (cold air holds less moisture so all the humidity in your house is trying even harder to get out through your walls and windows).

Google "proper winter indoor humidity levels".
