I purchased a silky terrier puppy from Tim Mason (Mason Puppy Trax), Stark City, Mo. This was before I knew about puppy mills and parvovirus. Within five days of receiving the puppy, I had to rush him to the vet hospital because he was deathly ill from parvovirus. Given the incubation period of the diease, it was clear the puppy had been sent infected. I notified the owner, Tim Mason that the puppy was deathly ill and was sent infected. His answer - these things happen I will do the right thing. It costs over $10,000 to keep the puppy alive and Mr. Mason refunded my $400 and did not offer any money towards the vet bill. Even the vets thought he would give me some "hush money". There is little I can do legally given he lives in Mo and I live in Washington, DC.

Informing others not to purchase puppies from him so they do not experience the same emotional and financial burder is all I can do.

Not a ripoff

Parvo is a virus that puppies are vaccinated for, we vaccinate ours twice prior to going to their new homes. But like all vaccines even the ones we give our children, nothing is a 100% guarantee. A very small percentage can still contract the virus. Unfortunately we like any other breeder cannot say..your puppy will never be sick, we do everything in our power, like vaccinate, provide clean and healthy environment, give lots of love to our dogs to try to prevent such an occurrence. But over time every breeder and I do mean every breeder will have this happen. All we can do is replace or refund the price of the puppy which we did, as our guarantee states. Breeders and pet stores would not exist if they paid vet bills on things they have no control of
We hate that this happened and we would never knowingly send a sick puppy..that would be dumb, that would defeat the purpose of raising dogs. We do this because we love animals and we so much enjoy hearing from our customers and their happy lives with their new best friends. As far as a 10,000 dollar vet bill, well I will just say that is the rip off. Saving a puppy with parvo is difficult, but all any vet can do to treat parvo is an iv and a few drugs, none of which come close to this cost and within 1-2 weeks they are ready for home. That bill is just ridiculous.

We know it is very hard buying a puppy you have never seen before and seeing an article like is alarming. One of our customers's told us about this rip-off report, they get their new baby this week. Feel free to call and visit with us we want every potential customer to feel at ease with their adoption and we want all our puppies to be placed in loving home environments.
