Masonite product sold by Home Depot Deteriorating fiberglass company refuses to honor warranty Tampa, Florida
This complaint is near identical to two others posted at the RipOff
Report site (Report: #135844 Complaint Review: Masonite and Report:
#357947 Complaint Review: Masonite International Corp./Royal Mahogany
Products/Home Depot Masonite fiberglass doors.)
The two are also strikingly similar to nearly 75 other complaints
posted throughout the Internet from contractors/homeowners citing
gross deterioration of Masonite exterior fiberglass doors within
months upon being installed. All complaints appear to be well within
the warranty yet Masonite and Home Depot have refused to honor the
guarantee.
In my own case within three years of purchase the interior fiberglass
of the Masonite door with two sidelights (a special ordered at Home
Depot) became a jelly like mass that peeled off. What interior
fiberglass that did not peel off has become black. The exterior
fiberglass simply wore away leaving just bare wood. It took me weeks
to get the Masonite warranty staff S Wiltshire to even acknowledge the
complaint after sending her a brief description of the problems with
pictures - per instructions from the local Home Depot customer
service. S. Wiltshire responded only after several additional emails
were sent to Masonite customer service representative K Mann Both K
Mann and S Wiltshire were indifferent and even hostile to my concerns
via emails and then phone calls It was obvious from the first that
neither had any intention to objectively evaluate and address even the
most well document customer complaints. Masonite refused to document
the reason for their refusal to uphold their warranty when requested.
My local Home Depot no longer carries the Masonite doors. Likely once
corporate Home Depot learned of the gross inferior quality of the
Masonite doors they bailed leaving the customers without recourse. I
consider this nothing less than outright obvious deliberate consumer
fraud by both Home Depot and Masonite. I plan to file a consumer
protection complaint with my local Attorney General and both the
Attorney General/Consumer Protection Agency in Ga (Home Depot) and
Florida (Masonite). I encourage anyone with similar fiberglass
deterioration of a Masonite door to do the same and anyone reading
this post consider to quit further business with either Home Depot or
Masonite.

I am absolutely flabbergasted how openly shallow and self serving Home Depot, Atlanta, GA is. It is corruption at the top of the worst type. Within the last couple of years Home Depot has hired a bunch of PR people to surf the internet to find dissatisfied Home Depot customers. This Nicki i.e. Stephanie or anyone _Care@HomeDepot.com. They do nothing i.e. cannot address issues and problems with Home Depot products or policies. This PR team has no actual powers, it is just window dressing. Check the Internet yourself to see how many customers actually report anything was done for them by this team.
Home Depot is not customer driven. Home Depot each and every time will always succumb to the pressures of the companies that manufacture the merchandise they sell, even those selling grossly inferior merchandise as described above the expensive and 'life time warranty' Masonite doors. The truth is Home Depot does not get involved in warranty issues no matter how grossly violated their customers are by a manufacturer. Your local Store managers have no power to work with a customer no matter how obvious it is Home Depot is at fault. Some lawyer should go after Home Depot for their refusing to honor what they sell. In the meantime just go to another store. What you save today by shopping at Home Depot you will pay dearly in the future. Any lawyer should feel free to contact me about HD and their outrageous disregard for dealing with their customers fairly.
