Complaint Review: Matchroom Country Club at Heritage Resorts Mijas Costa Malaga

We are two pensioners from Manchester visiting the Costa del Sol for many years but never paid attention to the timeshare touts in the streets of Benalmadena and Fuengirola. Until last year, when we met a very pleasant woman in Benalmadena who explained us to take a visit totally free, just to have a peek at a wonderful resort in Mijas called Matchroom Country Club, with a free taxi and lunch. So we did and at the end, we bought a 3-week holiday pack with GBP 2400 in vouchers to spend at ICE Club for GBP 4.900 with the Manager called Marcello, ( English/Italian).We thought it was a good deal.

But surprise, the scam started, we could only use the first week to come back to Matchroom Country Club part of Heritage resorts and that was it, we could not use the vouchers, although they told us when we bought ( misinterpretation),we could use the vouchers to pay for flights, hotels or apartments, car hire even excursions etc.etc. A complete scam, we could absolutely do nothing with the vouchers. But we did come back, on the first day of arrival, they invited us for a breakfast the next day,(which was the worst we ever had).They took us to another Hotel from Heritage resorts, called Playa Real at Marbesa and showed us the next apartment block Marbella Beach. And right away they told us that the pack was not good for us at all, we had to buy a 15 year membership for only GBP 13.000,00 and they would reimburse us the GBP 4.900 in its total . By that time we did not smell one but two rats, so we told them that we first wanted to enjoy our next holiday and after that, we could contact them again.

Coming home we started to call the ICE Club because we wanted to use the so-called vouchers to book a cruise to the Carribean, at Matchroom they told us that we would have up to 60% discount on all the cruises. But again surprise, at ICE they told us that the price for a one week cruise was $. 2.100 for 7 days per person (suite) while at Matchroom the told us and showed us that it would only be $ 850 per person from Miami. a difference of $. 2.500,00. We also asked the price for a week in Hilton Miami in Matchroom and they told us $350 for a week, so all together $ 2.050. when we called to Miami Hilton they told us the price was $ 1.140. So a cruise for 2 persons one week to the Caribbean and one week in Miami would cost us in total, not $. 2.050,00 but a total of $. 5.140,00. a difference of $. 3.090,00 a whole lot of money. We now know for sure that we have been conned and we are going to a lawyer and demand in court for a total refund of the amount paid, because of misinterpretation by Matchroom Country Club, Heritage Resort.
