This site, Mate1.com is a total rip off, bait and switch operation. I decided to join their site under the trial offer of $1.95 for 3 day full access after I was receiving constant mail alerts stating that I've received actual mail from members on their site.

I sign on and at first could not get to the mail section because immediately the site was asking me to reactivate my account and then upgrade. Already a glitch in their software apparently. I signed out then back in and was able to check my so-called messages. What were "messages" in my inbox were nothing more than matches the site sent to my mailbox. I received 11 of these thinking these were actual messages from members. Out of these 11, only 1 was an actual message sent from a member wanting to communicate. The other 10 were all listed as "1-to-1 matches" and asking ME to send THEM a message if I was interested.

I've signed up to other dating sites prior and understand the concept of them sending matches or showing me who's interested in me as separate catagories. This site, mate1.com, has the same additional categories of "Interested in Me" and "My Matches". So I don't understand why every single member listed as interested in me and my match are also showing in my inbox as messages when they're not.

So this to me is a bait and switch and I gladly cancelled my account right afterwards. I don't normally pay for dating sites and this is another lesson as to why I'll continue not paying. I did contact the site to submit my feedback and advised them I would be reporting them.
