Purchased a warranty a few months ago from Harley Davidson of North Dallas.  Recently they were acquired by the same owner from Longhorn Harley Davidson.  They are now called Maverick Harley Davidson.  Well I had a service warranty that I spent $1300 dollars for just a couple of months or so ago.  Sold my bike not to long after that, and tried to get my money back for the unused portion and they refused to help in any way and told me that they were no longer Harley of North Dallas.

When you make a large purchase like a dealership, you would assume the new dealership should also assume any warranties that the old company had.  These people were very rude wouldn't return callas and after several attempts to get a hold of them they told me to take a hike.  Avoid these scam artist at all cost or risk loosing your hard earned money.

Is it a third party warranty?

I hope you have a copy of the warranty that you paid for at the dealership. Check the paperwork to see if your warranty was issued by the actual dealer (unlikely) or by a third party warranty company (more likely).  Many of those warranties are backed (issued) by a third party and once the dealership collects the money the balance of the funds are sent to the warranty company. Naturally the dealership deducts their substantial commission from the cost of the warranty. That is why it really is a better idea to not purchase a warranty through the dealer, but at least you should be able to get a pro-rated share of the actual cost of the warranty returned to you. Good luck.
