Mayflower Express Direct Auto Transport ... Bad, Bad, Bad Scammers. I don't know HOW I was involved with this Company. I bought a car on ebay, I requested shipping quotes. This Company quoted $975 to ship a 12' long, 4500 lb 1977 Ford Bronco from MI to CA. When I requested Shipping quotes, I "UNCHECKED" the box where the car was in Drivable condition. (Stated that it didn't run) Mayflower immediately charged me $175 deposit. ($800 balance to the driver on delivery) 2 weeks later, a truck went to pick it up. but left it. (I was told because Mayflower didn't know it didn't run) another 2 weeks later it was loaded. The day before it was delivered I was notified that I owed the driver $1500. I called Mayflower and recited their bid of $975. They told me they cant guaranty the drivers price. They driver had my Bronco on his truck, and wouldn't drop it unless I paid $1500, or he would drop it off at the nearest wrecking yard. He then told me that the "Job" was posted for $1000, then $1200, then $1500, before he took it as a job. He was the first truck to pick it up, but it wasn't on the street, and wouldn't back down a long driveway for the $1200 price. He went back when the offer was $1500. When I called Mayflower, they directed me to the fine print of the contract that the price quoted, was NOT guaranteed. I had to pay the driver $1500, or lose the purchase price of the Bronco. eBay has NO recourse on the transport of vehicles.
