We purchased a new Maytag washer in Feb. 2001. It broke down Jan. 2004. We called a Maytag certified repairman. The repairman stated that our 3 year old machine looked like a 30 year old machine. It turns out our machine had faulty seals that were slowly leaking enough to cause $400.oo in repairs, but not enough that we would notice it until the machine was completely ruined.

We called Maytag and all we could get from them is a very frustrating, "We can not assist you." We emailed Maytag and their response was because of the age of the machine (3years!) they could not do anything.

They sold us a lemon. The 5 year warranty is useless because the $400.00 repair bill is not including the three parts covered under Maytag's warranty.

We bought the machine for $400.00. We believe that it should last us longer than three years. We believe that Maytag should stand behind their product. We want to tell everyone about the poor product and the customer service that is an oxymoron.

Maytag makes big claims regarding their products; ie. the bored repairman in the ads, but apparently they can't live up to their reputation anymore. They might want to be careful of how they advertise. False advertising is still a crime, is it not?
