Allowed to continue, Van Anderson as he calls himself now has been allowed to use Craigslist to advertise his sub-standard houses and scam people out of their savings and get away with it. He claimed that 32 Island Rd in Etna Ca had originally been owned by his grandparents. The truth came out when neighbors told me about how he scammed the owners into selling it to him for very little. The pictures he sent were of a sweet little cottage in a very small town. After driving 2500 miles. I arrived at a broken down house with dead mice and insects crawling out of the holes in the floor. When I went to the building inspector and showed him pictures of the inside of the house his reply was that was not his job. He met secertly on June 15 2016 with Mr Anderson and decided not to inspect the roof or the hanging electrical lines. Instead he said it was all the health/safety inspectors job. The sad part about all this is as soon as I leave Mr Anderson will be allowed to rent this property again even though there is black mold and fungus growing through the rotten wood that is covered by a metal roof.

I am writing this to Rip-off Reports to give everyone an update on Mr Anderson and his unethical landlord practices.In this update I will include the Order for Mr. Anderson to appear in court, one letter he sent as a response to my second report to ripoff report and the charges that gave him the right ( so he says) to keep my deposit.
I am not the only tentant that he swiddled out of money. A young lady who rented one of his properties in Hornbrook Ca contacted me via email after she spent two weeks without water. She did all the things that I had done and was also refused an inspection by Mike Crawford at the county building inspectors office. She had no water because there was a crack in the plumming at her residence. She asked me why the county refused to inspect Mr. Anderson's property.
I left on June 27, 2016, seven days after I filed a Civil Law Suit against Mr. Anderson. It is now August 5th and he has eluded being served by the Sherrif and by private individuals. Yet as you will see he has sent me a letter which says I owe him for living at the property in question. He states in this letter I will pay his rent until he finds someone to rent the property. As a result of renting Mr Anderson's property at 32 Island Road, I tripped numerous times on a piece of metal that Mr. Anderson had screwed into the floor. Due to those trips and falling I injured myself. Yet Mr. Anderson has stated he has rented this property again without any repairs and clearing the propertyof the trash he dumped there.
In this letter he also says that I should of stayed at the property until his ninety day notice was up. After he contined to harrass and threaten me, there was no other possible solution to end the harrassment but to leave. He claims that he started eviction on a property that had been vacate for over two weeks. He was notified by the police department that in fact they had his keys. He charged $15 for his driving 11 miles to get the keys and claims he can do it. After seeking legal counsel on the matter it was determined that yet again he violates landlord-tentant laws in the state of Ca.
After posting on Ripoff report he sent me a letter demanding to see both my DD214 and my teaching creditentials. He also claims that he is a Veteran. Yet after an invegiation from the VA he does not show up in their files as either being a member of the National Guard or a soldier in the Army. Yet there are enough police reports to confirm his history of physical abuse and assault and battery. These police reports go all the way back to when he resided in Hawaii.
I am in hiding because Mr. Anderson did threaten my life. However he would say that this statement was a self inflicted wound or that I was sipping the cool aid a little to much. Mr. Anderson refuses to allow any public offical into his rentals for fear he will get caught renting substandard housing at high prices. Most counties would have prosecuted him and charges him with fraud long before now.
Mr Anderson has eluded prosecution in any county that he has real-estate holdings in. If you attempt to file any legal actions against in a court of law he eludes authorities so that he can continue his unethical practices. After all he he wants to make money at any cost, even if he causes pain for others. He is not being picked on and he is not the victim as he claims.
If Mr. Anderson was so afraid of the judge or authories in Siskiyou County he would allow building inspectors to inspect his properties and would not avoid being served with court documents. Mr Anderson would gladly be willing to prove his case and prove he is not guilty of being a slumlord.
I have recently filed an amended court document. After calucating my out of pocket expenses I have spent in total over $11,000.00 in just rentals and moving expenses. That does not include my medical bills for the injuries I have suffered by this experience. Anderson and his wife should be ashamed of themselves for being such slumlords.
He has tried to rent the house on 32 Island Road but no one will rent it. They go to lok and find a dump as one possible renter wrote me. How did you last as long as you did. My answer is simply he had already taken my savings when I rented the place back on March 16. I have now doubled that debt due to Mr and Mrs Anderson. I also learned how to be homeless because of these two people. There was two nights I had to sleep in my car because I ran out of money. They took my money and now want more?
Who will stop these people from ripping the public off? And when will it happen? Maybe they should try this down in the Central Valley where the couurts prosecute these kind of people?
