MBCOA Miniature Bulldog Club Of America - Platinum Bulldogs - Miniature Bulldogs Family scammed into buying a "miniature" bulldog from puppy mill - NOT a kennel! Palm Beach Florida
Please don't be ripped off from this puppy mill that pretends to be a miniature bulldog kennel. The people that are involved in this "Club" are actually all family members that are claiming to be different breeders.
Our faimly searched for months looking for the perfect coloring & look. We weren't in the market for a miniature but stumbled upon the website of www.gottilinesouth.com and found the exact coloring that we wanted. We called Dawn and spoke to her several times over a couple weeks time. She was sooooo nice at first. Telling me that the "miniature" breed has less health problems, etc. Anyway, we were very cautious (so we thought). We called several referrals from all over the country to make sure that this was a legitimate breeder, etc. Now come to find out, all the people that we called were also related to this puppy mill.
By the time we put down our $1200 deposit, the puppy was going to be flown to us in 5 weeks. And Dawn had said that we would be sent pictures each week to see the puppy, etc. She not once sent a picture. I would call and email asking for her to send a picture and it would not happen. Finally I called her cell phone using a different phone # & she finally answered(not knowing it was me). I asked why she hadn't called or emailed and she apologized and said that she had been in the hospital and she would send the pictures asap. I never received anything.
I continued to call and email. And finally, the Thursday before the puppy was supposed to be flown to us, she called and said that our puppy that we picked out had a heart murmur and was not healthy. She said that we needed to pick out a new puppy. We did not want anther puppy. They didn't have another puppy with the coloring or look that we wanted. After expressing this to her, all she could say was that there was nothing that she could do & that if we didn't want to pick another puppy, that we would lose our deposit. So we ended up picking another puppy from her cousins website. Dawn was actually rude to me when I told her that I wanted a puppy off of the other website.
Then I kept calling/emailing to get info on when the puppy was supposed to fly in because we were going to be out of town and of course, I never received anything until the day before he was to fly in. Luckily we were back in town.
The puppy arrived and was horribly dirty. He was so scared and didn't seem like he had even been around people. I know now that he was bred in a puppy mill - and if you are considering buying a puppy, please do not buy from any of the breeders on the supposed MBCOA - they are a fraud and are excessively breeding their dogs.
These puppies are not miniature. Our puppy is 7 months old and weighs 40lbs - he is huge (and we do not over feed). He has long, skinny legs - I don't even think that he is a pure bred bulldog - let alone minature.
I called to get his papers and of course no one has ever returned my calls or emails.
He also had a hernia which we had to pay to get repaired. He has horrible allergies (which we know was a problem with bulldogs). His temperment is not like a normal bulldog. We love our puppy so much but he is not what we thought he would be. We just really wanted an English Bulldog and that is not what we got.

Deposits should be refundable for a health problem

If you simply did not change your mind, and THEY had to back out due to a health issue, the deposit should have been refunded. Was there some sort of deposit form/agreement or notice on the site detailing the terms of deposit? Now, most deposits are non-refundable for good reason, but I certainly wouldn't consider this one of them. And this club is the only one whom reckognizes 'mini' bulldogs at this juncture, to my knowledge, and the breeding program has not been around long enough to be consistantly small. AND, a great deal of 'bred down' breeds have MORE health problems and not less. And it is not uncommon to have these 'mini' bulldogs not be ALL bulldog. You can do a DNA from a reputable and ACCURATE source, not all places are. If your puppy is not, and was represented (in writing) as being from 2 purebred dogs of the same breed, well...... And, check and see if there are lemon laws in their state, if there are, sometimes they address registration papers, what information is to be given, and a time limit for when they must be recieved. If you have anything that says he is registerable, and you are unable to register him (probably at least with this club), then they are breaking a contract with you if they are not providing the application. And you should have been told about the hernia if you weren't, in my opinion. It is not generally major (umbilical), can resolve on it's own, is not always hereditary contrary to popular opinion, and common in bullies due to the c-section factor, but it is still decent to let you know in my opinion. Went to site, believe they are located in Florida, and Florida DOES have puppy lemon laws (whether they are all fair in my opinion or not, LOL.) Good luck to you, and anyone else whom purchases one of these 'mini' bulldogs.*Just my opinion*
