Complaint Review: Mblox

Mblox ripoff TRICKS GO PHONE OWNERS INTO SUBSCRIBING, EATS UP ACCOUNT MONEYS Nationwide

My, 23 year old, handicapped daughter, moved into a Group Home two months ago. To limit the expense of a cell phone, I purchased her a Cingular Go Phone.

Unknowing, she answered a tex to read her horoscope, which 23 year olds like to read. I was told by tech. help for the Go Phone, her phone is charged twice a day whether she goes to the tex or not $.85 each time.

I purchased a $25.00 card for her phone. I spoke to her twice, for less than 3 minutes a time. The rest of her money was eaton up by this company. Most unfair.

My daughter has $60.00 a month to live on, which does not go very far, it is used for personal care items, and maybe very little entertainment.

What a sad thing, when it comes down to ripping off a handicapped person on a very, very limited income.
I hope that there is something that could be done to these vultures, that pray on innocent people.

mqube got me too

I did not sign up or subscribe to anything, anywhere. Out of the blue, my cell phone recieved a text message with my "future mates name". Then a horoscope arrived. In all, I received 4 test messages from this company at a charge of $5.99 to $9.99 for each message.

I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THESE MESSAGES. I did not authorize these messages. I called Cingular and disputed these charges. They credited me but I was not totally satisfied. I then cancelled all text messaging to my phone. It seems to easy for these types of companies to rip off consumers. I think there should be some sort of investigation.

How can any company send a message to an unsuspecting cell phone consumer that says "You future mates name is Julie, Cindy, Joanne or Susan" and then charge you $5.99 for such rubbish is beyond me. Watch your cell phone bill!!

Hate Mblox/Mqube and every other third party carrier

I work for cingular wireless, and I see these charges everyday! Them not being a part of Cingular, we have to direct them to the number. The past few days though I have noticed callers calling in and telling me that they have recently changed their number. Cingular can, and will stop these subscriptions!!!

Unfortunantly like any other company there are lazy employees say that they cannot and say you should call the number. We can cancel them. The thing is about the subscriptions is that the person who had the number before may have subscribed to these companies and it carries over onto your account. So you could be being charged these from the minute you start service. I have been charged from mqube myself, unfortunantly! I voted on a TV show and I recieved 10 subscriptions for 50 cents apiece! The only thing I ever recommend to my customers that call in is to only download from your carriers website!!!! BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

What mBlox actually is

Working at mBlox I get calls all the time from customers who weren't given the right information in the first place, resulting in the situation that you have. What I can tell you is mBlox is actually a telecommunications aggregator that provides an infra structure between third party Short Message Service content providers and mobile phone operators like Cingular. Many differing companies use our network to deliver content to
customers. This content could be ringtones, wallpapers, games, chat services, etc. that are consumable on a mobile phone.

What should have happened is when you called Cingular they didn't know which third parties were sending the horoscope to the phone and so they send you to mBlox who looks up the mobile number and finds out which third party it is, we then give you the information for the third party so you can cancel with them. It's kind of a run around and we know it, we don't know why the wireless providers can't look it up themselves but we are more then willing to give out all the information we have to those that call in. More info about this is at www.mBlox.com.

MBLOX trick charges can be stopped and avoided

#8Consumer Suggestion

Tue, June 13, 2006

When I went online to pay my Cingular bill, I saw a $29.99 "subscription" fee from MBLOX. I had no clue what it was or if it was a one-time fee or monthly fee, so I did some research. I found the following site. Read my posts #49 and #51.

Simply put, I had not heard of any of the services discussed at the above site. I did not knowingly subscribe to mblox for $29.99 a month. My monthly bill is around $50, but this month it was $98. As you will see in the below e-mail response, Cingular will reverse the charges (they will probably have to eat them) and contacted MBLOX on my behalf to end the monthly subscription of $29.99.

Please pay particular attention to the consumer guidelines you need to watch out for, before agreeing to get "free" anything from any service other than your own wireless provider. This information is invaluable. Good Luck!

Dear ,

Thank you for taking the time to e-mail Cingular Wireless regarding your online account. We are happy to help you with your inquiry and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Goldpocket Wireless, m-Blox, & MobileMedia are 3rd Party Content Providers that offer wireless data services to Cingular subscribers outside of what Cingular offers via Cingular.com or MEdia Net. This content can include Text and SMS content like Alerts/Horoscopes/Trivia/Jokes, downloadable content like Ringtones/Games/Graphics, and other informational content.

You are able to purchase content from these providers in various ways, including from the Web, through SMS shortcodes and by entering a URL on their phone browsers. Customer's can make one-time purchases or sign up for monthly/weekly subscription plans which allow the customers a
package of downloads before being charged at a per download cost. These purchases can then be billed to your wireless phone bill through Cingular's DirectBill.

These 3rd Party Content Provider's may advertise through various media outlets including Television, Radio, AOL Instant Messenger and various newspapers/magazines.

In order to be billed from these companies, someone would have had to sign up for their service. We would advise in the future that if someone purchases content from other providers to carefully read their terms
and conditions, as a subscription service was initiated through m-Blox for $29.99 each month. We have removed the $29.99 charge via the website. This credit will not come off the current balance, instead it will appear on the following statement under the heading Credits, Adjustments
& Other Charges.

In addition, we have contacted m-Blox on your behalftoday to notify them you are no longer requesting to be billed for this subscription service.

We realize that there are many choices in the wireless market, and we thank you for choosing Cingular Wireless!

Sincerely,
