My husband, already an MBNA cardholder, received an offer in the mail to consolidate debt through their "Disappearing Debt Program". The letter stated he was pre-approved for $25,000 at 6.99% interest. He has excellent credit and called to take advantage of such a deal and consolidate some bills. They took all his information over the phone. They stated his information would be shared with other companies and then they declined his application - even after his was PRE-APPROVED!

When I got on the phone with them and told them we did not want his information being shared, we were told they would send us a form that would enable us to remove his information from SOME of the shared companies. I told them that the prequalification letter was nothing more than a lure to get people to call and give their personal information and the little ditzy salesgirl simply laughed at us. MBNA thinks they can manipulate people into a false sense of security. I think what happened to my husband was immoral and borders on illegal. They misrepresent and sell personal information for (i'm sure) financial gain.
