OK I have had a gateway PC for a few years now. I bought my Gateway directly from their local store and they provided the financing. I used to get a monthly bill from gateway. At some point in time a few months back Gateway sold all of their credit accounts over to MBNA, so I thought no big deal. WRONG!!!

First, in my contract I had a fixed interest rate of 11.5%, Well the first month MBNA jacked the finance up to 27.9%, that is more than my old sears card. So I decided I had enought, I was close to the end of the payments and decided to pay it off in full.

I sent MBNA payment in full for about 900 dollars. Thinking I had that bill out of the way I was suprised. For some reason the took time posting the payment. The check had cleared my bank but not posted to my MBNA account. I then get a nastly letter saying I am late in paying and watch the interest rate clime up to 30%. Then they post my payment. Then send me a new bill for about 345 dollars for interest due and late charges. I had never ever been late, and this interest is unusally high.

I must have talked to over 10 people and kept getting transfered, but to nobody that would help. Finnaly I got a supervisor. I told them that I had wrote paid in full on my check and our state law says if you chash a check with paid in full on it you accept that as payment in full. After 30 minutes of talking to this supervisor, I finally told them they either took off the charges or I was going to call the Atourney General and report them for fraud.

Ok 4 weeks later, I get a letter from them saying I had a zero balance. End of story NO!!!!

I just checked my credit report, and the filed negative remarks saying account chared of bad debt. Yes I owe them zero as they have probably sold it to a collections agency.

I am calling the Atourney Generals office in the morning, not to mention the fact I called my autorney that I jused to do my will. I am going to take legal action. I already told the credit angency equifax that I was disputing this the only negitive item on my credit report.

good thing I have it documented to all the people I talked to, just worried about who they sold my account off to.

If you have MBNA watch out they will rip you off.
