McDonalds Corporation USA Monopoly Game - Not Lovin it / False Advertisement Martinez California
The Martinez McDonald's store displays an advertisement for its Monopoly game that extends nearly the width of their parking area in front of their building.
Customers who enter the store and purchase a meal receive no Monopoly game pieces as advertised both on television and inside the Martinez store.
When the manager is asked for the game pieces, she reports that their store has not received a shipment of these materials. Asked for a rain check or access to these materials when they arrive the customer is told, "No, we don't have them and we can't make them available to you at a later time." The employee then points to a set of images depicting a box of french fries, a sandwish and a soft drink. There is a small, obscure sticker applied to each item. The text is printed in low contrast causing patrons to strain to be able to read the small type. I am told that it says that "Game pieces not available for this item." The employee continues by saying that there are no items in the store that include game pieces.
This practice is misleading and clearly constitutes false advertisements.
