Now most mcdonalds (and other fast food restaurants) bombard with ads about their "specials" on the TV but never indicate the specials in their stores...you now have to ask...they want you to assume that it's no longer on special when you're ordering and as for "participating locations" NONE of them indicate what they have on sale ... no poster, NOT EVEN A PRICE CHANGE ON THE MENU .. are they that ashamed of their "specials" that they hide them once you're in the store or at the drive thru???

Some McDonald's do not participate in contests or specials

A couple of years ago, I remember visiting a McDonald's in NE Ohio, and I had a winning food prize game piece from the "Monopoly" game that McDonald's once had almost every year. Turns out, that particular location was not participating in the "Monopoly" promotion, and both, did not honor the winning game piece, nor did they have cups/french fry boxes with the game pieces.

Also, I remember visiting a McDonald's in downtown Cleveland, and ordered two Sausage McMuffin with Egg sandwiches, which were promoted both on TV/radio and billboards as being "2 for $2.22". Turns out, that location was not participating in that offer, so I only ordered one sandwich.

I also noticed that that particular location (at Tower City Center) did not participate in other advertised McDonald's specials either.

A suggestion I would like to make is that non-participating McDonald's locations post signs informing the public that "we are not participating in chainwide/regional promotions" or something to that extent, to avoid confusing the public.

Many people assume that ALL McDonald's locations participate in regional or chainwide promotions, only to find out, once they are in line, that that particular location is not participating.

I am an employee at a McOpCo mcdonalds. I saw this rip off report and wanted to shed some light on what may be going on. First of all there are two types of McDonalds, owner operator (franchise) and corperate (McOpCo).

The reason McDonalds has the diclamer "at perticipating McDonalds only" is because some times an owner operator district will not participate and because there are McDonalds that lie on a border between two different management districts. they cant run all the specials from both districts so they stick to wich ever they are managed under. I'm sorry if that was confusing but it's the only way i can think to word it.

Both types of stores recieve Point Of Purchase materials (POP.) automaticly. they are posters, menue incerts, flyers, ect. It is up to the individual store to make sure that the pop's are displayed proporly. Usualy a first or second assistant manager is in charge of the task.

If the restaraunt in question is truly not desplaying there pop than there aria manager needs to be informed. Both McOpCo and owner operator stores have a district manager. They are hard to get in touch with but complaints about a particular store can be made at a 1-800 number. I'm not sure what it is at the moment but you can get it from any mcdonalds manager or it may be posted on there drive through window.

Another point is that the crew people are supposed to with every costomer sugestive sell there specials. McDonalds has specials because they are trying to familurise the clients with new products or are trying to get the transactions per man hour up. Thats a very long story to explain that. Anyway this means when you get to the speaker or the counter the crew person is supposed to say something like, "thank you for choseing McDonads. Would you like to try one of our new primium salads today?"

Also some stores will print up monthly calanders with events and specials unique to that particular store. Keep your eyes open for those. They are usual at the end of a counter or near the condiment station. With the wonderful invention of the dollar menu there will always be something displayed on sale. Keep in mind though that the dollar menu rotates. The company will swap items such as the big and tasty with the double cheese.

Lastly if the store in question is truly not doing there best to notify you about there specials notify to company. start with the store management. Generaly your issue can be rectified easyest though the individual store. McDonalds wants your buissness! Our pay checks actualy say "From our satisfied costomers" it's corny as hell but it's true. IF you don't have any luck with the store management try 411. Ask the operator for the McDonalds Costomer Service Center. And F.Y.I. no matter what rank a manager on shift may be weather swing manager or general manager they are required to give you the 1-800 number when asked. Now that i think about it our current bags display the number on it. Good luck.
sincerly,

ps. I oppologise for my spelling. i just got home from work and it's 5am.
