McDonalds ripoff on McNuggets Glendale Arizona

I recently went thru the drive thru at McDonalds located at the Corner of Glendale Ave and Litchfield Rd next to Luke AFB.

I wanted some McNuggets.

A 6 piece McNugget meal was listed as costing $3.70 but I was hungry and wanted a 10 piece instead.

They charged me $5.75 not including tax and $0.50 for a debit transaction..total was $6.12.

Now I don't know about you but $2.00 for an extra 4 nuggets seems a bit excessive and I told the shift manager who happened to be working the drivin window that.

He said it was actually a good deal. I tried to get him to tell me how much a regular 6 piece vs a regular 10 piece cost but he kept playing games with me telling me it was a good deal.

They don't advertise their 10 piece meals so I can't make a determination how much it costs for the McNuggets alone. But $2.00 added to the original $3.70 price seems a bit high to me. Considering you get fries and a medium coke in the $3.70 pricetag and that would have been over $2.00 to get them by themselves leaving the 6 piece McNuggets to be somewhere under $1.70 if you subtract them from the price.

So why are they charging double price for the extra 4 McNuggets? I would have done better to get two orders of 6 piece McNuggets and a order of fries and a medium coke. I would have gotten more food for the money.

In addition, the nuggets tasted like they were cooked in week old oil, they were really disgusting. In the past I've had repeated problems getting hamburgers cooked to order. How hard is it to not put pickels and onions on a burger when asked? What is the point in having special orders if you can't make the order right the first time? Add in the fact I use the drive thru since I'm usually needing to be at work in 10 minutes or so and I usually dont have time to check the order.

The management there needs some serious training.

Happens all the time here in lander :)

If you ever go to this store again, check in the big blocks where the value meals are (Its #7 here, might be different where you are) - the price for the nuggets ALONE, sans mea, should be in the bottom right corner. The other meals run the same, the full value meal price is listed in the top right corner of the #'d section on the menu, the item alone should be in the bottom right corner. It's easy to miss as they don't list the sandwiches/nuggets anywhere else on the menu standing alone, just as an addenum to the value meals. Had to direct many a person to this. Pain in the rear way to design the menuboard anyways. Just a suggestion, check it next time.

Should the price STILL be too high for you, note that 6 pieces usually only come in the mighty kids meals. $3.70 sounds about like the price of the 6 nugget kids meal. $5.75 is the 10 piece adult sized value meal. Note the 2$ nets you more fries, a bigger soda, and 4 more nuggets.

A couple more notes. Talking to the shift manager isnt going to solve anything. They do not set the prices, neither do the people taking your order. You would need to talk to the owner/operator for this. If this was during the lunch or dinner rush (which i'm guessing it is) - the managers already have enough on their hands without people complaining about things they have no control over!

Last thing, having worked at the golden arches for 3+ years (cooking and all) - you get used to how each sandwich is made, and its quite possible to mess up a special order without even thinking about it. We're human. It happens.

If i was incorrect in any of the above, i apologize in advance.

Did I miss something?

You stated in your missive, and I quote, "I wanted some McNuggets". Huh? Did I miss something? A thinking adult who actually WANTED those wretched little slugs of phlegm? UGH! It's so bad that when my kid wants them, I order "beaks and feet" and they know what I'm talking about.

Their screens don't work either

#8Consumer Suggestion

I have lived here for over 2 and a half years and the customer service display screen has never worked at the restaurant on Litchfield Road and Glendale.

It was a 10 piece meal. The problem here is they don't list their 10 piece McNuggets anywhere so I can find out what the actual price would have been.

It isnt listed inside either.

I have worked for McDonald's for three years and am a manager there. I used to live in the Peoria/Glendale area. It is not an extra $2 for a 10 piece. It sounds like they rang you up for the 10 piece meal instead of just the nuggets by them selves. You didn't specify if that was all you received or if you did in fact get the meal.

I also know that at every McDonald's drive-thru there is a customer order display screen that shows you what the employee is ringing up. So you could have been checking that for accuracy. Also the $.50 charge for the debit is not McDonald's doing it is the debit company, Paypoint. Which McDonald's has ended its contract and is going with a new provider that can accept debit & credit cards faster with no charge to the customer.
