MCI AKA 1-800-Collect invasion of privacy abused & mistreated Virginia
My husband was out of town for work. He used 1800-collect a lot to call me because they couldn't direct dial from the rooms being they were on the company's bill.
So, to make a long story short MCI calls me this morning first saying they needed to verify the calls were indeed mine since they considered it 'excessive' (yeah more like a regular phone bill 'round here), At first I thought how cool they are doing that, good idea IN CASE of fraud. So I said yeah they're most definitely mine.
They then begin asking about my income, quoting by previous bills (only since I opened an account in VA which isn't very long ago) saying that I've never had a bill this high (HERE) and they want to make sure I can pay it!! I'm like that is none of your business, I assure you I can pay the bill.
I hung up and they called back, insisting they needed to verify I could pay. I'm like look buddy, I've had 3,000$ phone bills when my hubby was in the Marines, I think I can handle a petty 400$ bill.
Who did you have a 3000 bill with he said, then he says the highest bill we have here with Verizon in 250. I'm like yeah since I've been in VA. I have a LONG history with At&t ask them and leave me alone. They said they can't verify that with AT&T, blah blah blah.
VERY rude and condescending. I asked for a supervisor and complained - they told me it's their policy. I asked why it isn't in the commercial or it doesn't inform you when you make a collect call or before you accept one of the policy.
That would be annoying no-one would use our service. I said when I'm through with you no- one will use your service anyway. So, needless to say I'm filing a whole slew of complaints and telling anyone who cares about their privacy.
Not to mention the fact he was gone 3 weeks and $400 is an obscene amount considering he called every morning at about 5am west coast time for 10-15 minutes and when he got in about 4pm west coast time for 10-15 minutes. None of the calls were long. I'm still waiting for the paper bill to see how they ripped me off for $400, must have been like $1.00 a minute.
