In January 2000 I was called by MCI and offered a free cell phone due to being an outstanding mci long distance customer. I had planned a trip to Fl. in April and thought it would be nice to have the ability to communicate with family in Massachusetts while there. I was assured by the sales lady that with my plan I would have no long distance fees or roaming charges and that I would have free nights and weekends. When I received the phone there was not any kind of contract that accompanied it. The phone worked great! I received bills for MCI which I now know were for the landline long distance but at the time assumed(I know it makes a fool of me) that it was my Mci cell phone bill also.

Imagine my surprise when in August I received a bill stating that I owed over $500.00 and that they had made a mistake and forgot to bill me. I was not to pay the first bill or the second bill while they updated my bill, but I was to pay the third bill. All of these bills arrived within three days of each other and I received three sets of three bills. Of course every bill increased in amount.

When I called I was treated as if I was ripping them off and if I didn't pay the amount right away I would be turned off etc. The costumer reps were rude and will not let you speak to a supervisor they just pass you around to other customer service reps. that pretend to be supervisors. Unfortunately I paid them over $600.00. All this time I was assuming that my plan was as I had established in January.

Yesterday I was informed that my plan had never included free weekends that they have never offered that and that I only have 180 minutes and free long distance within my calling area which not any of the reps could tell what my area was.Obviously I have been paying for a lot of minutes that I was not supposed to be charged for. However, now they say that unless I can produce a written statement or document about my phone conversation with the sales rep. that their contract stands. How am I supposed to obtain a written document for a verbal misrepresentation?
