We moved in July of 2001. When changing our phone line over, we elected not to use a long distance carrier, because like mose, we use a 1010#. Our first bill did not reflect any MCI charge. Come September of 2001 we noticed a charge for service and usage from MCI. I called them and sent them an e-mail, I was told that no one could change this with my authorization and they will do an investigation because they take this matter very serious. They also told me it would take 1 to 2 billing cycles to be credited and this account removed with MCI.

This has been going on every other month since. Last month, they finally credited me $15.23 out of over $200. Every e-mail and every phone message I've received from MCI says the same exact thing. To get this little credit, I had to speak to a supervisor. She seemed real nice at first, then says, "I've credited you $15.23 and I've told Verizon to take us off as your long distance carrier. But you'll have to call them in 3 months to make sure we didn't put you back into our system." Needless to say, we then got into it.

So much for them taking things seriously. The worst part, is the woman refuses to give me her name. Then she gets smart and tells me that I can complain to who ever, they won't do anything. I've since spoken to a friend of mine who works for a independent long distance carrier. He does alot of transactions to where MCI, Verizon, Sprint, etc have made technical errors and he has to fix them. He also informed me that what MCI does is switch 20,000 customers over to them a month without authorization. Most of these customers have no idea this was done, they just pay their bill every month and go on. The few that notice are given the run-a-round, like what has happened to me.

This just goes to show what kind of company MCI really is!
