Complaint Review: MCI The Neighborhood

MCI The Neighborhood or MCI the Nightmare ripoff, deceptive billing practices, they ignore your cancellations and continue to bill you. Denver Colorado

I signed up with MCI The Neighborhood in February 2003. They told me my bill would be no more than $49.99 for my first line and $12.00 for the second line. My bills were averaging $112.00. I had about $50.00 in miscellaneous fees on my bill that they deliberately failed to tell me about.

After the second bill I switched both lines effective May 2, 2003. I received two complete billings after that from MCI. In July I received another bill for $96.91. I told them I should not be receiving ANY bills from them at all since I have not been with them since May 2, 2003.

MCI completely ignores any cancellation orders and continue to bill you. They even gave me a credit and the following month, the credit was added back on my bill with a late charge. The should be called MCI the Nightmare.

They seem to find a way to "nickel and dime" you any way they can.

A couple of days ago, I received ANOTHER bill for $4.17 (this includes a six cent late fee). The bill last month was $4.11. I called MCI about it last month and was told to ignore it because my account was zero balance. This time I am told it was from a collect call made to my home in late July. I verified it. My daughter's friend called 1-800-COLLECT, which is an MCI service. I don't understand why they didn't tell me that LAST month. Hopefully, they are out of my hair for good! They seem to find a way to "nickel and dime" you any way they can.

MCI the Neighborhood Nightmare update, fraudulent practices

Around the 15th of September, I received ANOTHER bill for about $5.00. I again called MCI about the charge. I had both of my home lines switched to another carrier effective May 2, 2003, even that switch took almost four months. They assured me that my account is zero balance according to their records. I hope this is that last I hear from them. I honestly cannot understand how they get away with these fraudulent practices.
