it started when they stop sending a bill every month .they would send a bill one month and not send one for two or three months.And when a bill would finally come it would be double or triple the amount.So i knew i owed and i would send acheck for the months that was missed, but got tired of handling bussiness that way.So i told them to cancel my service this was in dec of 2001 one of the agents as they called stated i would have to write a letter to the texas company and tell them to cancel my service in writing,so i did exactly that.she said she would flag my cellphone number to be cancelled. This never happened they continued to tell me i owed them .phone still activated so i called again after holding the d**n phone for 30 min.my contract was a year which I served.italked with someone else this time and asked them why was the cellphone still activated.he stated that it was deactivated i said no it is not,it showed on the computer he said.he actually got very rude with me. Continued to tell me i owed for november and i knew that was not right.Iasked him what do i need to do to have my phone deactivated and service cancelled he said i dont know maamm.The next thing i did was wrote a letter to CPUC and refused to pay the bill that i did not owe.In the meantime phone still activated this is in january 2002.never heard from CPUC. Next thing i wrote to the BBB about the underhanded tricks they are trying to play on me and probably others.the only thing that will help me is i have all my cancelled checks where i have paid up to date. January 24 i talked with another person she said my phone would be off in 24hours.this is march 4 2002. that phone is still activated.so i figured they would stop sending a bill after January because i had a comfirmation number for the deactivation. i recieved a bill in februay and got one the other day for march. Please tell me what to do. Do i need to get a lawyer.I have proof of every dime i have sent these ripoffers and they still refued to shut my phone OFF. Thanks for listening.

Wanda, I am having the same problem with Verizon Wireless. I sent a formal letter to the President, Chairman/CEO and to the District President in the State of Georgia. The problem still persisted because he assigned a totally incompetent person to handle the matter. So, when I receive a bill, I just rip it up and throw it in the trash. If they want to sue for payment, I have it documented - with letters - that I asked them repeatedly to cancel my account with them. Additionally, I also have a letter from the President/CEO from their Headquarters in New Jersey varifying that he received my letters.
