GMS Promotions hides behind non-profit organizations like DARE, and TOYS FOR TOTS. (So you look at them as good people)They tell their employee's that they have a chance to own their own business.(and give you examples of people who have done it) GMS Promotions relies on employee's that are not going to stay. That is how they stay in business. They have their employees work half of the day for free (Because when interviewers are in the office waiting, they will wonder what we are doing behind closed doors screeming and laughing)which makes GMS Promotions look like a reliable company. Then you go on your interview day and they don't pay you anything no matter how much you sell.

Now if you notice on careerbuilder.com GMS Promotions says that they must train 12 people immediately for: Sales, Customer service, Office adminstration, Marketing, Inventory control, Management. The only job position that they are filling is Sales. As you work more and more they start putting more responsibilies on you so you think you are getting somewhere within the company (but they dont pay you anymore to do the work they tell you that you are working towards your goal to be a business owner) That isn't true either because even if you have all of the experience needed it all depends on how many people you have under you after you become a leader.

When you sign the paper work to work for GMS. They have you as an independent contractor. The reason that they do this so they don't have to pay you minimum wage. There were people who I worked with that worked at least 60 hours a week and only got payed 70 dollars.

If you ask the company about ripoffreport.com they will tell you that all companys have employee's that don't like who they are working for even walmart.(or some other big company) I am not writing this because I was ever mad at anyone at this company. I loved the people that worked there... and it wasn't that (I didn't have what it took) or (it just wasn't right for me). I believe that hard work should get at least minimum wage. I don't care if they are teaching you or not. Many companys pay to send there employee's to school. What makes it any diffrent for them. There is a reason why there is a minimum wage.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST A LOT OF THE WORK is done outside. Rain sleet and SNOW. I was there for three weeks and never had an indoor event.

not all true there

okay, so not everything you are saying is true. how do i know? because i worked w/the company for a very very very long time and know all of the ins and outs. the owner of the company does not make anywhere close to $300,000 a year. if he did do u really think he'd working as many hours or living the way he is?! seriously ... come on. the typical "owner" makes no more than $40-50,000 and thats the truth. they have to work 80-85 hours a week to make nothing and yea only 5% goes back to the charity because how else would anyone get paid? the charities do bank millions of dollars because of sales from offices all over the country.

as far as owning your own business....thats a false statement to which the "owner" has now been informed of as well. they do tell you that you can own a company...which means you can run a building for quantum/innovage so the head guys can bank off of you. thats it. they're money hungry..hands down...and it disgusts me because they all brainwash you into believing you can be living the "american dream" which is total crap. i definitely don't consider the "american dream" just making enough money to pay your monthly bills and thats it....gee what a dream...

i dont want to bash everything bc i was a part of this business for a long time, but i do feel it was a waste of time and i am ashamed that i got sucked into it like all of the other sorry losers that are still holding on. anyways, if you are looking for a job w/benefits and that you can live a NORMAL LIFE with...DO NOT even consider stepping into a building that posts ads for "entry level marketing, entry level management, customer service, expanding office, 9 open positions need to fill immediately...etc." i think you all by now get the picture from this site as to what you need to look for online to find the places that just want to suck you in so the head people (not the "owner") can bank mad mula....

Genuine Marketing Solutions part of Quantum events rips off charitys to make profits

I am an ex-employee of Genuine Marketing Solutions located at 37519 Schoolcraft Rd, Livonia, MI 48170, I worked there for a month.

When I started I was under the impression of making $35,000-$40,000 dollars a year. Of course I found this hard to believe until I saw the 24 year old owner Robbert Stiff making over $300,000 a year. This is because the sell products with the misleading information that the proceeds are going to a non-profit organization such as CPEA (Child Protection Education Of America).

Only 5% of the money raised to help missing children and the other 95% goes in the owner of the companys pocket. Of course you do get a 35% commission which turns out to be about $200 bucks a week that you work monday-saturday for 72 hours a wk, so the owner can get rich. And on top of that you have to use your own car to drive anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour away to a wal-mart, rite aid, krogers, ect. to stand in front of their door and sell stuff, and of course you dont get compensated for the gas. And then about half the time you go with another person and have to split the already small 35% you are making.

Now when you first start, they talk about you owning your own company in 7 months and making it to leadership in 2 weeks. The only thing that happens when you make it to being a leader is you still make the 35% but you have to work more hours and go take second day interviews out so you actually make less. The turnover rate for this company is ridiculous, I worked there for a month and I saw at least 50 people come and go, for an office that at its max was 18 people. Some of them got fired which I didn't understand why they weren't getting an hourly rate the owner just sat back and collected money, but most of them quit once they realized it was a scam and there was no way they were going to make money.

I quit when they sent me on a "roadtrip" meaning you go somewhere in michigan about 3 hours away (which you have to pay the gas and food for) but you do get the hotel paid for which is really a motel 6 with two beds that you have to share with 4 other guys. Now your supposed to make a lot of money on these "roadtrips" because the company isn't out there and people haven't seen them meaning they haven't realized it was a scam yet. I actually ending up spending more money on gas and food then I made.

GMS is actually a part of Quantum events so there are offices all over the country with different names that do the same thing, sell things in the name of a charity without mentioning that only 5% actually goes back, so new offices are springing up all over the country were they sell toys from a company called inovage and reap the profits. Bottom line this is a this is a company that the owners make a substantial ammount of money taking it from low and middle class people because their trying to help out.
