Here is actually the short version of the true story of my nightmare with McMahons RV.

In April of 2012 I consigned my 06 Beaver Patriot Thunder coach to McMahons RV in Mesa, AZ for $180,000.  On Oct. 19th, 6 months later they received an offer for $145,000.  There was absolutely nothing from McMahon during the prior six months!  Not a peep! Not one word.  No phone calls, no emails ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.  I should have read the writing on the wall and walked at that point. But noooooo, Im too trusting.

Telling me that $145,000 was the value of the coach set by NADA, I reluctantly and out of frustration accepted an offer for that amount.  Only later did I learn they had totally lied about the value.  It was actually $173,000 at low retail.  They just wanted a deal, and after all, it was no skin off their nose.

I then contacted my lender and negotiated a short sale, since I owed more than the offer McMahons had accepted.  I needed to be done with this coach and out from beneath the payments.

I was told by McMahons that the deal was done, so I called my insurance company and cancelled my insurance. I also sent my lender $8,000 cash, the amount I had agreed to in the short sale.  I then went to my bank, signed the title over to the new buyer, had it notarized and forwarded it overnight to the new lender, in California. (It turns out that they had sent the coach to Palm Desert, CA  --without my prior consent or knowledge.)  And I also learned that because the sale took place in California, they were required by law (due to minimum tread requirements) to replace several tires prior to delivery to the new buyer.  So they did, at their own expense and without my prior knowledge or agreement.

Subsequently, I learned from the new lender (NOT McMahons) that the deal had fallen through because the buyer was extremely frustrated with McMahons and ripped up the contract in the finance managers office.

Then for the next two months, until mid-December, I couldnt get one person to return my calls and tell me what happened, where my coach was, and simply what the status was. That included the consignment Manager, the Internet Manager, the General Manager in Mesa, the head of Customer Service (truly a misnomer), the Manager in Westminster, where the coach had been sent, and even Brent McMahon himself (the owner).  I left message after message both by phone and by email, and almost never got hold of anyone.  When I did, they would promise to get back to me and never did.

Finally, (in mid-December) I learned the coach was in Westminster, CA and received assurances from a guy named BH (name withheld for the time being), (We should get it sold in the next 30 days for sure!) and that January was the beginning of the best season for selling coaches, so I let them keep it.   So, on 12/21/12 I agreed to reconsign it at $153k.  This guy BH said hed send me a new consignment agreement. Guess what he never did.

It wasnt until over a month later, on 1/29/13 that I heard from anyone again.  They had sold the coach and expected it to close and be delivered on Friday, 2/1.  That didnt happen.  But did they call me and let me know?  Yeah, right. So, more than two weeks later, on 2/14, I hear that it had funded and that they would get me the details.  Did they follow through this time?  No, of course not.

As of today 2/28, I believe the coach is sold and has been paid for by the new buyer, but McMahons is still sitting on the money.  At least my lender hasnt received it.  They have also ignored every request of mine for a copy of the sales agreement.  If it closed as they said it did, on 2/13, they have now had my money for 15 days. The interest cost is about $26 per day, for which I will bill them.  As of today thats $390, and they continue to sit on it.

The bottom line is that McMahons RV is without question the most unprofessional, unethical, unscrupulous and chaotic organization I have ever dealt with in my life, which is saying a lot.  Im in my mid-sixties and have owned numerous RVs without ever experiencing this kind of nightmare.  Of course, I have all the correspondence to back up every bit of what Ive said here, and more.

My advice to you, my good Consumer, is RUN, dont walk as fast as you can away from this inconceivably horrifying dealership.  If you dont, you are likely to experience what I experienced the NIGHTMARE that is MCMAHONS.

Have you ever heard the saying trust but verify ?

When putting your RV in the hands of somebody else to sell you need to keep close eye on everything that's going on. You can trust but you always need to verify.

Personally I'm a little skeptical of putting something of that nature in the hands of somebody that I don't know very well to sell for me.  When you put somebody else to work to do something for you is always going to cost you time and money.

You and I know that consumers are less skeptical of private sellers versus dealerships in some cases. When it comes to recreational vehicles you have to keep a much closer eye on what's going on. Selling the coach yourself will put much more money in your pocket.

I recently wrote a report on the Nightmare That is McMahon RV.  It seems to have had the intended effect, because I just received a call from MW at McMahon's (name withheld for now) saying that the buyer of my coach would not go through with the purchase without my retracting the report.  While I can't do that (Rippoff Report doesn't allow it), I can say that:  at least for the moment, we seem to have reached a solution to the problem they created.  I applaud them for coming to their senses.  Let's hope they continue to follow through.  I can see no reason why they shouldn't.
