Complaint Review: MDM Brick Pavers & Stones

This company builds stone patios, fireplaces, etc. We hired them to build a firepit. Gave a 50% deposit. Time was of the essence so we put a deadline into the written contract he provided. He took the money and went to Brasil. He would not communicte for weeks. Finally he said he was in Brasil and would call when he got back. That would have been a week after the deadline for completion of the job. He never did a thing. Did not deliver promised materials or do a single thing. We cancelled the contract in writing. He acknowledged the cancellation and promised to refund the money. He has since refused to do so.  We are having to sue him to get the money back. He is registered as a LLC with the state and has a place of business so he is not some fly by night contractor. Do not do business with him.
