"SKIING" magazines started showing up in 1999 to J Hopkins; sometimes single issues and sometimes duplicate magazines with slight differences in the subscriber name or address. J Hopkins is 86 years old and has never had any interest in skiing; there are no friends or offspring who ski.

I have written twice requesting that they cancel the subscription and quit sending the magazines. J Hopkins received about 8 more and finally none for several months. We thought the problem was solved. There has ever been a bill nor a charge on a credit card. Then, in September 2002, she got another magazine.

I wrote again to Skiing magazine and they have sent me a postcard saying they cannot cancel a subscription that was set up by a subscription agency. They asked me to contact Media Outsourcing, The Heritage Bldg, 2550 Heritage Court, Ste 101, Atlanta, Ga 30339 to cancel the subscription. They have suspended delivery pending confirmation from them. Contact person is signed Richard Rukanics (?) 1-800-825-5552.

I do not think it is appropriate that a magazine publisher is unable to stop a subscription, even if they stop it to the subscription agency. It is also suspicious that the magazine was not delivered for awhile. And finally I think it is appropriate that a magazine is delivered with the source of the subscription. Not having ordered the magazine, we would not have any idea that a subscription agency was involved.

I intend to write to the Media Outsourcing place and request a cancellation. Here's hoping they will come through.
