Summer 2009 My grandpa fell, he pushed his medical alert button, with no response. (Family lives about 100 miles away.) He was able to get up after about 45 minutes with a broken collar bone and many cuts and scrapes on his arms.  When he got up, he called family for care.  We came and took care of his injuries and investigated the medical alert. The main system was funtioning, but the pendant was not.  We began calling for a replacement pendant.  After 3 weeks of daily calls from 2 family members, the company had not responded.  So I searched on the internet for the system and found another company that was nice enough to send out a replacement pendant.  We got that set up, again with the help of the other company because we still hadn't heard from buymedicalalert.com also know as Medical Alert Buyers Alliance.

To this day (February 2010) we still have not been able to talk to anyone at Medical Alert Buyers Alliance, even though their website, buymedicalalert.com is still active.  In January 2010 they charged me for another year of service.  The previous year, when all was well, they called and asked me to renew - which I was happy to do because the system was working.  This year, there was no call, just the charge.  I have filed a dispute through my credit card company - because I can still not contact a real person at Medical Alert Buyers Alliance buymedicalalert.com either by phone or email.  Please do not use this company unless you are okay with your elderly loved one lying on the ground for hours without access to help.  I am now with another company and I will be happy to share their name with anyone who is looking for a reputable service.
