3/2010 -  I went to a medifast clinic to get help losing weight.  They explained if I paid for a year up front I would have 12 months of support where I would come in weekly, get weighed, talk and pick up more food.  $1300.00 was a lot of money but if you look at it monthly, I decided I liked the idea of having a year of support and agreed.  At that point we set some goals which I had complete control of and I wanted to lose 50 lbs for my 20 yr reunion which was 4 months away.  The specialist did some figures and confirmed I would have to lose 2-3 lbs a week but it was possible. At that point she explained the different phases of the program but did NOT tell me that they were in any way tied to financial ramifications based on my goals.  I did very well on the diet losing 30 lbs for my reunion and felt very good.  When I went in after my reunion, the specialist informed me that since I hadn't reached my goal that I would required to pay $50.00 per week. Up to this point there was absolutely no mention of this.  I did sign a contract in which I didn't read thoroughly so it's possible that there is some verbiage of this somewhere in the several pages I initialed but during our "discussion signing up" I made it clear how concerned I was with money so there is NO question that if this came up that I would have continued with the program.  When I asked why it would cost $50.00 she said it was because it's a different weight loss discussion.  My weekly meetings took all of 5 minutes in which we didn't talk about weight loss but more about what my week was like.  After she saw my response and talked to her manager she offered me $25.00 a week.  I was so shocked because up until this point I was very positive about the program.  It was easy to make an appointment, the staff was friendly and most importantly the weekly appointments helped me to hold myself accountable.  This twist made me realize that they did not care about my success on the program and that it WAS all about money.  I emailed medifast telling them how frustrated I was and that I wanted my money back for the remaining months that I will not be going but they never responded to me.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Burea a few weeks ago and just went to small claims court.  I found out that Medifact Weight Control Center LLC is a ficticious name with the Secretary of State and that it's registered officially as Jason Property LLC.  I'm disappointed because they got greedy for no reason. If they would have been up front that if hadn't reached my goals that I would be charged more then I am smart enough to give myself more time to lose.  I would have never set myself up for failure and to pay more money.  If you have any questions or comments at all please email me at (((ROR redacted)))
