Mega Life And Health Insurance I was mislead and lied too. North Richland Hills Texas
I am writing this letter because I feel 100% that mega life and health and its sales agent Ron Clark mislead me and took my money. I am totally dissatisfied and disgusted with mega life and health and until they refund all my money and send me a letter of apology I will call this company and everybody associated with a bunch of rip offs. I would also like a letter of apology from this so called sales agent that sold me this misleading insurance policy. (RON Clark) This is one of many reasons why so many people in these United States of America have no health insurance. Its giant companys like Mega life and health that have this happen to them.
Being mislead, like I was, on October 12th 2007 I meet with a Ron Clark of the national association for the self-employed and he (Ron Clark) sold me this health insurance. Ron Clark told me that doctor visits where free. And blood work was free as part of my health insurance. I told him (Ron Clark) that after my health insurance with mega life and health started that I needed to get a check up, which I haven't had in over 20 years. And Ron Clark Assured me that the doctor visit was covered and any blood work was covered.
I went to Papago Medical P.C. in Sierra Vista Arizona on 11/21/07 to have my check up. I even asked the doctor's secretary to help me with my insurance papers and called mega life and health and double check that my visit and blood work would be covered, and from what the secretary was told it would be covered by the insurance. We'll the blood work was not covered and I was slapped with a $360.61 bill, which to this day I am still trying to pay for.
So because of this unexpected bill I have to figure out where am I going to get the money for this bill and be able to afford my mega life and health insurance? Well I was able to pay $30.00 dollars a month to the doctor and up to the end of February I was able to pay the mega life and health insurance but after that I could see I will not be able to pay the 156.24 a month bill.
So on march 17th 2008 at 9 am I called mega life and health insurance to cancel some of my insurance my vision and dental so I can afford to pay the doctor bill and this mega life and health insurance. The person I talked with was Nicky and after canceling these insurances my vision and dental, Nicky told me my monthly draft would be $73.36 and I asked her three different times that this amount is correct because I don't have any more money and she assured me that it was the correct amount, because I didn't want to be charged by my bank for insufficient funds. Confirmation # 2011123.
Then today March 25th the day that the mega life and health is to be drafted from my bank account I get a two page letter of change which showed dental, vision was removed fine. Then PPO which I was never told or asked that is would be removed. And on the second page it says outpatient accident expense has been removed air ambulance has been removed preventive plus benefit has been removed the outpatient speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy all has been removed. I never asked these to be removed nor was I told that any of these were or had to be removed? Then the letter states due to these changes there would be a monthly draft for March 25th (today) of $102.70?
Where the heck is this number coming from? Nicky told me and reassured me that $73.36 was the new amount to be drafted. So I call customer relations today march 25th 2008 at 1:30 Pm and talk with Kathy and explain all this to her. I go into my bank online and see that mega life has drafted $80. Dollars and cents. So at this point I feel mega life and health is doing whatever they want. And I tell Kathy to cancel all of this insurance, ALL OF IT.
NOW ON THIS DATE MARCH 25TH 2008 1:40pm I am done. Kathy tells me that I will get a refund of the 80 dollars and whatever the cents was in about a month, so at this point I am so sick and tired of this company and this entire misleading that I have to hang up and write this letter. I can see clearly how a company can make billions off average people like me with these misleading incidents BILLIONS of dollars from people that can't afford it.
I think this is the worst customer service I have ever in my entire life experienced.
I feel that mega life and health insurance and Ron Clark mislead me and ripped me off. Mr. Ron Clark was just telling me what I wanted to hear, whether it was true or not just so I would sign the paper work. He was telling me that he was a Christian and that he was going to send me an olive leaf from an olive tree from Israel, yeah right. Never heard from Mr. Ron Clark again. He got my check and my signature. What does he need from me anymore, nothing, he made his sucker sale.
October 12th 2007 $156.24
December 25th 2007 $156.24
January 25th 2008 $156.24
February 25th 2008 $156.24
March 25th 2008 $80.00
Total for insurance $704.96
And the doctor bill of $360.61
For a Grand total of $1065.57 this is the amount that mega life and health owes me and mislead me out of.
Because of these I will never trust an insurance sales man or woman ever. Or any health insurance company.
I hope Mega Life and Health, Ron Clark and all the rest related to this company are happy for what has happen to me.
If I was told the truth about this policy and not mislead just so RON CLARK could make a sale, I would have never signed and I would not be writing this letter.
One of two options this company and its people will do to solve this mess.
Option 1: Mega Life and Health Insurance will read this letter and that will be it.
Option 2: Mega Life and Health Insurance will read this letter and see that this is a mess and poor customer service and refund all of my money, and send me a apology letter.
I know for a fact, because I am one person with no money to fight this in any court room that it will be put in a file cabinet and I will never see any of the monies that I was mislead from.
This is a fine example of no customer service, which is what this country has none of because of giant companies like Mega Life and Health Insurance, I can bet my life that no ceo or any other high office person(s)in this company will ever read or hear of this letter.
Thank you for such a fine mess.

You should contact your state's insurance department. Just about every state insurance department has a web site so check it out. When you are on the insurance department's web site, see if they keep a record of consumer complaints. If they do, you will learn that Mega Life leads the pack in consumer complaints for the amount of business they have in the state.
As far as waiting for a favorable response from Mega Life to your complaint, you would have better luck waiting for pigs to sprout wings and fly. This country will have universal health insurance before Mega Life decides to give you any kind of apology.
I can tell you that not all health insurance companies are created equal. Look for one of the "biggies" in your state or contact an independent insurance agent or broker who represents many different companies. Most agents of Mega Life are inexperienced reps who only sell that product.
I have more than thirty years experience in health insurance and one thing I can tell you is health insurance isn't cheap and anyone who offers "affordable" health insurance with low deductibles and co-payments is either hiding something or flat out lying. I love to see someone that has a health insurance policy with Mega Life because unless they are uninsurable, it is an easy sale for me. Most of the time all I have to do is ask them rto get out their policy and read it. When they see what it REALLY covers, they are asking me to replace it.

I just have one suggestion Rick, try adding $2500 and $4000 again, I don't believe it comes to $7000. If you are going to TRY and back up anything that Mega Life does, TRY and at least get your story straight.

I had a stroke in December of 2007. I have $2500.00 Deductible and a 70/30 co-insurance plan to the next $4000.00, then they are to pay 100%. That is $7000.00 maximum out of pocket. $42000.00 later, there were bills coming from everywhere. Lab bills, MRI's, hospital bills, radiologist bills, Neurosurgeons bills, every other Dr. that was in the hospital sent Mega a bill. Bottom line after looking at over 50 EOB's (Explanation of Benefits) was that owed $6999.99. I could not be happier. I worked out a deal with my drs. and hospital and ended up paying 20% less or $5600.00. Mega also got about $8000.00 discounted because I was in network.
