I have been with Mega Health and Life Insurance, aka NASE, since 2003 and representatives misrepresented themselves by telling my that a prior medical condition would be covered, and to date has not. I was forced to look for insurance when my employers dropped us like hotcakes and I had to have coverage fast, otherwise I would have shopped around. Anytime I go to the doctor, I am responsible for the majority of the bill, except maybe $6 out of $90. I had outpatient surgery last year and had to go to several doctors for a benign lump to be removed, and out of the almost $2,000, Mega/NASE only covered $250.

I thought insurance was supposed to help the little person, but apparently I'm just taking my monthly premium and throwing it out the window. I might as well have no insurance, take the money I pay MEGA for INSURANCE, save it, and have well enough to cover any medical expenses, except for something major. I feel I have been taken by this company. I went over my policy the other night and it is very confusing, what is covered and what is not. They have a long, long list of what they will/will not cover. I had Blue/Cross Blue/Shield before Mega, and they covered just about anything. If my employer had not dropped us, I would not be in this situation. And as far as going back, I have been turned down 3 times because of a pre-existing condtion, which they covered for over 7 years.

Misrepresentation of Agent, not Company!??????????????????????????????????

First of all, I'm an ex-agent of these two companies. And if you are going to boldly tell these people that they are not related, you are as dumb and stupid as the rest that work for them.

NASE and MEGA are intertwined, related, and affiliated, PERIOD!!! For those of you that are consumers, just check with the state regulators and the massive complaints filed against these companies, along with the huge and hefty fines they have had to shell out in the past.

Mega Life and Health Insurance Coverage

My husband and I have been self-employed for 27 years, and have had coverage with Mega Life and Health for many years. We used to have coverage for us and our employees with Blue Cross/Premara, but they raised the rates constantly and became too expensive. We are very happy with Mega, which we purchased through NASE. We opted for major medical, so our premiums are low and have only been raised twice in several years, and then only by a few dollars. We decided we could absorb the smaller expenses, such as a doctor's appt., etc. READ your coverage before accepting and believing what a sales person tells you. I recently had major back surgery, and the bills totaled a little over $100,000. After our deductible of $3600, we had to pay only $5,084.00. Can't complain about that! Again, READ your policy to make sure it's what you want to pay for. We have no complaints with Mega.

Misrepresentation of Agent, not Company!

I am truely sorry that this happened to you, but there are a couple of things that you need to understand first. NASE and Mega are two completely seperate companies. NASE is NOT insurance. Mega is insurance. If something was not covered in your policy it was because one of two things. Either your agent told you that something was going to be covered and it wasn't, or two, when you built your plan, you did not have the benefits added to cover those expenses. Either way, that's why MEGA (By Law) must give you a Ten Day Free Look Period. This is so you can have sufficient time to review your policy and make sure that everything that you wanted in your health insurance plan, was indeed included.

It sounds to me that you were either mis-informed about the differences between NASE and MEGA, or you didn't take the time to review YOUR OWN policy. Either way, neither NASE nor MEGA is truely at fault in this matter, and deep down inside, you know that! Once again, I apologize for the situation that happened to you, and I hope next time you take the time to protect yourself.

NASE/Mega is a scam

I - like many others- started in the health insurance business with Mega, being recruited with no prior insurance experience. Basically they hirer guys off the street and teach them to sell their product, making sure the agent/enroller does not find out the truth how bad these Mega products really are. Most of the agents are clueless, and when they do find out the facts they leave to go sell reputable Major Medical health insurance products.

After a few years, agents then learn to become independent brokers carrying most every quality plan offered in their states represented.

Fact is NASE/Mega is one big scam. Anyone who defends it is either grossly profiting off it and have learned to fool themselves into thinking its good insurance, or is new and clueless. Even the Multi-Level Marketing Managers and "directors" had Blue Cross, World, or other insurance while still claiming to represent this Mega garbage as the best.

So Mega insurance is usually "the worst" offering available. These "Sales guys" spend more time learning how to "close the sale" (with you being the sale) when they instead should be learning how to better serve clients - starting with leaving and becoming an independent broker selling true Major Medical insurance.

Group plans have to cover pre-existing conditions

It seems that you should have carefully read over your policy before your agreed to take it. You have either a 10 day or 30 day free look period to carefully look over the policy and what it will cover and not cover. As for you GROUP policy is concerned, per existing conditions have to be covered in a group policy. When you switch over to an individual policy, some pre-existing conditions are not covered. Again, it sounds like your agent did not know what he was talking about. But please, dont have the mind frame that the entire company is a shame.

A good policy starts with a good agent, a smart and knowledgeable agent. It is your job as the client to ask a zillion questions so that when your agent leaves you have a clear understanding of what the policy will cover. If you don't, then DON'T GET IT!! Mega is an excellent company with a good history of providing quality health insurance policies. If you, the potentail client, do not like what you hear from the agent then look elsewhere. No one is holding a gun to your head to sign up.
