I am sure they can justify this somehow, but it seemed unfair to me when I bought an apple/cranberry pie from the bakery discount rack on Sunday (1-6-08). I couldn't find the expiration date on the pie, so finally decided they could not sell it AFTER the discount date, and bought it assuming it's expiration date was probably 1/6/08. There was a big orange sticker on the box saying 40% off! You pay $4.19.

When I got home, I wanted to see if the expiration date was under the orange sticker; it was: (1/6) and so was the original sticker price of $5.99! (This was not a sale sticker price or markdown tag). My calculator says 40% off $5.99 is $3.59. Then I checked the sales receipt expecting to see $3.59, but instead it said the pie was $6.99 and is now $4.19 - which is what I got charged.

My feeling is that I was purposefully misinformed, and ripped off! It is not the amount of the rip-off, but the principal of it. All the other apple/cranberry pies were marked the same.
