This is how I got scammed into paying $38,965 for a $23,000 dollar car.I had put alot of miles on my previous car in a short time and I was intrested in purchasing a new car. I have tried alot of dealerships in Phoenix and unfortunaltly I ended up in mel clayton ford. I test drove a few vehicles.

I decided to purchase a 2003 ford focus svt. Everything seemed good , the only strange thing was the odometer had 750 miles on it . The dealership said it was not a demo vehicle, just had alot of "test drive miles on it". I agreed on 9% financing, and $1,200 cash down. I also agreed to pay full sticker price as long as my trade was payed off in full. I was told i was also getting $3,500 cash back rebate from ford.

It was about 8pm and I was told I would get to drive to car home that day and return the next day to sign the paperwork.

As I waited and waited I over heard the finance manager and the sales manager get into a really heated arguement. It turns out the finance manager would not sign off on my car's paperwork so I was unable to take the car home that night.

I was very disapointed , but returned the next day. I sat down with the same finance manager that refused to sign my paperwork the night before. I was told my payments would go up $100 dollars a month.I refused and left the dealership .

Thirty mininutes later I got a call from the genral manager from mel clayton ford , promising me if I returned I would get the car at the promised rates . all the paper work was ready and I signed and drove home in my new car that day . A week later I was called my the finance manager and was told I needed to come in again to sign my loan agian because of a error in the first one.

I ended up resigning 5 diffrent sets of contracts over a period of 2 months ,with mel clayton ford. My trade in was not payed off untill 3 months after I signed the first contract. I ended up paying 17.9% interest .

I just recently had a clutch replaced under warrenty at mel clayton ford and the service department is worse than the sales department.

I am currently trying to find a solution for the mess I am in. I will never buy a ford again and I will never buy a car from mel clayton ford again
