Mellon Bank Del - Penn University Of Pennyslvania - Deborah & Bruce Ashy Disabled person being ripped off Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
I advertised an electric wheelchair on craigslist for sale for 500 dollars. I received numerouse e-mails from debbyt007@gmail.com and bruce-ashy111@yahoo.com.inquiring about the sale I told them the price was firm and I specified in my ad not to send extra money wanting me to wire it to the shipper to pick it up. They chose not to do as I said and they sent me a check for 1,950.00 telling me to take my 500 out and an extra 100 for my patience, then they wanted me to wire the rest to their shipper for pick-up. I told them I need a phone number for the bank and the name of a person to speak to s my bank could verify the fundsa. They seem to be avoiding my e-mails now, but I was smart enough that I kept the chair and will not turn it loose till i have the money in my hands.

One might think that Mellon Bank was ripping you off.
This scam is fairly common. The names of the individuals aren't important as these scammers have a number of aliases. What is important is how the scam works.
In this case, a check for more money than the item was being sold for and a request to send the balance to someone. That would probably have been through Western Union or Moneygram.
Once someone picks up money through those services, they can literally disappear.

These people find items on craigslist and present themselves as business people. They are very rude and used foul language when I questioned what they were doing.
