Power seller Melonie Hooker sold me a $3000 computer and promised next day delivery.

I sent payment... and the item was never received.

It has been 3 months waiting on a refund.

She has a new excuse everyday, and ignores my contacts for weeks at a time.

This ebay seller should be in jail, yet she continues to sell small items on ebay, she only rips people off on the big ones.

I am the 4th victim in the last 4 months alone.

More Research on Melonie

I have been doing more research on Melonie. She is really a cold hearted witch (not my word of choice, but the cleanest one I can post). I read her feedbacks on ebay....on the first one, the only thing she cared about was that her 100% positive was ruined. She didn't care about the customer. I have located a new website for her. It is at meloniehooker.tripod.com

I was involved in a similar situation, but with an online business. The owner said we could sign up for free with her candle business (and she claimed everything was hand made by her and her husband). But when people began placing orders, nothing was ever shipped. She kept the money and avoided everyone (even went as far as closing down the website). Turns out the products weren't handmade, she was buying them from another online business. We also found out that this was not her first online scam. So we banded together and contacted everyone we could. The district attorney in the county she lived in, her local police dept, even the news media. One of the local channels there even did a story about her and her scam. So I encourage all of you to stand up and do something. Expose her for the fraud she is so that everyone will know. I did notice on her ebay account that there has been no feedback for at least 6 months, even though she has thing currently for sale. She changed the name in June of this year. Makes you wonder if the word isn't already getting around ebay.

I'm glad you got your money back as well! The most I was ripped off for, was $24.00, that was the only time, And I was mad as h*ll for some time. I can't imagine $3000.00. This woman sounds like she must be a nut job as well as a scammer. That may explain why she stays out of jail so long. This is why I personally will not mess with E-Bay, as the potential for fraud is too great. Anyway im glad it worked out! I'm sure this woman will continue doing the same thing, but she may do it to the wrong one!

I am so happy that you got your money back and hope that everyone else will also. It is sad that she still profits 1,000 from this, not counting the thousands of dollars that she has ripped off on other people. She still should be in jail!! As for her daughter, I thought about emailing her my self but I figured that she would support her mom and just write back nasty comments. So what if she saves the emails because everyone knows that there isn't anything that can be done. She is just like her mom and when I emailed Melonie she said that I was harrassing her and that she was going to sue me. She isn't going to do anything! She just wants people to leave her alone, but it aint gonna happen!

Patrick, I am glad you fought the fight and in the end, came out with you money back. But unfortunately, you have had to deal with a lot of anger, frustration, anxiety, bitterness, etc which surpasses the $3000 you lost in monetary compensation. This is a good example of why people file for mental anguish in lawsuits.

I read through all the rebuttals, and unless I missed someone mentioning it, money orders are like checks. The are traceable and replaceable just like checks. By going back to the place of purchase, one can file for a front and back copy of the cancelled money order. If it has not been cashed, then a stop payment can be issued and the money order is replaced. They can also be traced back to the payee's name and bank account/identification by the process markings on the back. I don't think anyone had mentioned this.

Also, I have been ripped off myself from a transaction that was originally on Ebay, but the way the transaction transpired, (was not aware at the time) but it happened outside the network. I had contacted Ebay within 3 days because the seller had placed a block on my screen name shortly after the funds were wired. They worked quickly to get this persons other items immediately off and I even found him going back in under another's identity. This was also removed immediately when I reported it. But they also gave me a link to a department that deals with internet fraud and I believe it is tied to the FBI. I filled out a form that asked for information and all proof of contact and communication. I was surprised that no one mentioned this in any of the rebuttals.

For those who have been affected and not received compensation, I would recommend this route.

Again, sorry to all victims as it is a horrible thing to go thru.

What a dirtbag

#71Consumer Comment

Mon, February 12, 2007

I have followed this thread for a while now and this woman seems like an irresponsible dirtbag. In my opinion, the best form of payback and the best way to get things done is public humiliation. If any of you have the time or inclination, get to her house and picket (loudly) in front of it - just on public property like the sidewalk.

After all, she is running a "business" and should be held to the same standards and consequences as any other business. Can you imagine how embarassed you'd be if your neighbors saw a bunch of people (or even ONE!) yelling in front of your house with BIG signs about how you are a con artist and a theif? Let her try to press slander charges - you all have your records of paying for something you never received.

If none of you is willing to go that far, someday someone will be. You don't want to tick off the wrong person, Melonie.

Update to my Situation

#71Author of original report

Mon, February 12, 2007

Long story short, I got my $3000 back, melonie sent me a $2000 money order, and I received the other $1000 from paypal insurance.

The fact that melonie STILL profited $1000 from trying to rip me off, and that she wasted 100+ hours of my time, and that she spread lies about me to all of you and others, and threatened me with ridiculous law suits, still does not sit well with me.

She also finally admitted to johnson in her last email that the money did go towards her son's wedding, after lying about it to me and him in the past.

I have never dealt with anyone that is such a malicious con artist in my life, constantly pawning herself off as an innocent party trying to illicit sympathy from her victims and hoping that they just disappear.

It was obvious to me after all of my dealings with her that she knew exactly what she was doing the whole time, and the only reason she sent me any money was because I contacted the local sherriff and realized after all of my efforts that I was not going to disappear.

She continues to pretend like she did nothing wrong, and emailed me today to remind me to update this report to mention that she payed me so her "reputation wouldn't be hurt" when all she is trying to do is "fix the problem."

Regarding the comment above about her myspace account.... one of my friends contacted her daughter in the past letting her know what is going on, and her response was

"I talked to my mom and whoever your friend is, is the scam artist so I know the facts also my mom has talked to some people today and there WILL be a claim brought against also your friend has been threatening my mom and that is so d**n childish so I guess you wasnt raised up as good as you though huh?So write me one more time cause I'm saving all of this.

BYE!!
Cheri "

Just more ridiculous threats and lies just like her mother, so don't waste your time.

Melonie Hooker Is A Thief!!! Myspace account

#71Consumer Comment

Mon, January 22, 2007

Melonie Hooker also has a Myspace account with the same picture as her daughter and it sais Melonie Hooker's Acct and it shows a picture... but it is set to private and so you can't view her profile unless she ads you as a friend. All of this just proves that if she has an active account and so does her daughter, that means she can't be in any bad shape or sick like she claims to be. In the picture her and her daughter were at a club or bar and Melonie had a cowboy hat on and looked drunk in the picture. She's not the classy good hearted person she claims to be!! You can still view her daughters profile, pictures and comments by her.. which is open to the public and it also has an email address if you would like to contact her reguarding her low down mom.

Sorry for your loss..............She's a dandy

#71Consumer Suggestion

I have been buying items off Ebay for many years now. I too have ran into problems with sellers like as this one. By the time you figure out you have been screwed out of your money it's some times too late to file your complaint with PayPal. And, if you don't file with PayPal, Ebay's response is you should have filed with PayPal first. But because of the time frames you are given to file a complaint PayPal and Ebay sometimes screw you too.

You have to wait 30 days before you can file a complaint with PayPal. Then it must be filed within 60 days. PayPal will email the seller and give them 10 more days to respond and then you have to respond after the seller's response and so on until finally PayPal will find the seller at fault. Then they send you this lovely email saying they will try to get you a refund out of the seller's account when the seller has funds available. But if the seller never puts any money in their PayPal account there is nothing to take and even though you did everything right your still screwed.

The best way to avoid this scam by all parties involved is to ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS use a credit card for your Ebay purchases. Then you don't have to wait for all of eternity to maybe get back some of your money. Nor do you have to pay Ebay's fee to recover your money. You can just simply write a letter to your credit card company and deny the charges due to non-receipt. They will act in a timely manner and reverse to charges to PayPal and you will get a full refund. Most credit card give you 60 days from the posting date to refuse a charge.
I always file my claim with PayPal first then if I do not get a refund or the item before the 60 days I write my letter to refuse the charge to my credit card company.

I think that is why PayPal tries to get you to not use your credit card. When you pay from your bank account you are just at their mercy. There's no way to get that money back.

I have been taken one too many times on Ebay and I know how the game works now and how to protect myself from dishonest sellers like this one. She's a dandy. I have heard all of her excuses she gave to you from other sellers that scammed me. It's in the mail, the Post Office delivered it wrong and it came back to me so I have to send it out again, my dog died, my husband died, my mother died, my father died, I'm dying, I found out I have cancer, my husband has cancer, I'm so sick I can't get out, I was in a car accident, my car quit and I can't make it to the Post Office, my computer crashed and I couldn't get your shipping address, I am being audited the the IRS, I swear I have heard it all.

Once I bought Disney World Park Hopper tickets off Ebay that I thought was from a ticket agent. When we got there the second day I went to use them they would not let me in the park and called security to come and talk to me. They took us to a conference room in guest relations and the head of security for the park questioned me as to how I came to have the tickets. I had to give them my I.D.'s and they eventually after they realized I was not the who they were looking for, explain that the tickets I purchased for my family of six no less were stolen tickets. They were 6 of 2500 tickets stolen. My kids all thought I was going to jail and trust me my hubby gave me a cussing for buy the d**n things off Ebay. Almost 2 hours later they let us leave and gave us free passes to replace the ones they took from us at the gate.

So scammng is everywhere even at Disney World, you just got to protect yourself and don't ever listen to the excuses they give you. Just go ahead and file whatever you have to so you can get your money back. I know this doesn't help you now, but hopefully it will in the future. Ebay is great when everyone is honest. But there are a few Melonie1231's out there. I don't blame you for giving her hell, I would too.

By the way the previous poster was right that is her daughter on MySpace and her too. She doesn't look like a sick woman who just had eye surgery to me. She just looks blind drunk. She might have drank all of your money or maybe she used it for all of her daughter's headshots. LOL
I hope you eventually get your money back.

More info on the "Hooker" Lady and her Family...

#71Consumer Comment

Sun, January 14, 2007

Hey Everyone-

Very interesting saga unfolding here! I am sorry for all of your lost money!

Just a curious reader, I Googled "Hooker Pelzer SC" and came up witha bunch of intersting stuff about what must be Melonie's daughter, Cherie. Cherie's last name is Hooker also and she is from Pelzer, SC. Cherie thinks she's pretty darn special, so you can find all sort of info on her!!

Go to myspace.com and look her daughter up. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=12807570

Under a section with "friend pictures" There is a picture of this "Cherie" with someone named "Melonie". Melonie is listed as, I think it said, 43 years old, while this "Cherie" is 21 yeard old.

Just one more way to try to get your money back??? Maybe??

Good Luck to you all!

Con Artist

#71Consumer Comment

Fri, January 12, 2007

This melonie is obviously a seasoned con artist. There have been others on Ebay and a couple have been caught and prosecuted for this crime. This is theft plain and simple, all she is doing is making up crap and sending out these "you will get the money soon" emails. If you can get the law on this person, I mean have her arrested or take her to court that is the only way you will get satisfaction. Go after her assets, she will not willingly give you a refund. Oh yeh I am waiting for the picture of the checks she promised. Good Luck.
This is the very reason I will only buy cheap stuff on Ebay.

SORRY FOR THIS LATE RESPONSE.. ONE OF THE VICTIMS

#71Consumer Suggestion

Fri, January 12, 2007

sory guys for one of the response, i was one of hte numerous victimes of Melanie Cox Hooker. since this "case" has been going on and on and you guys seem to be reading and commenting, i'm gonna put in a little more spice to it.

to summarize everythign, its pretty basic like you read. she sold a 3k computer, didnt deliver, and dindt refund. i bguht mine in august. its january 12th now. haha...

now she wrote a lettert o department of consumer affiars to tell them how ill get my money in the next few weeks. (dated 12/19/06, no money)

she told squaretrade i will get the money next thursday (dated somewhere in december, she then stopped responding to the squaretrade mediator.

so for a few laughs here are the emails i get from her:

(11/24/06)
It will go out on Tuesday. But you really need to quit talking behind my back with that Patrick Haddad, he is trouble. He has called me every name in the book, and threatened me, I am getting my cousin which is a judge and lawyer to serve him with harassment. And Slander. So please stay away from him...Let me know your info by Monday please. Thanks! Melonie

(11/28/06)
Ok....check will be wired Thursday. I am so sorry! They said they had a hold on it till then because of the amount. But it will be released on the 30th. So I will send it. What Bank is it that you bank with, and your billing address. Is it the same as your Paypal. They will need to know this. Thanks! Melonie

(12/1/06)
I did go to the bank yesterday and told the lady there all of your info. I did the paper work, they were waiting on the check to go through. I told her as soon as it went through to wire you the money. Your not being rude, you just need your money, I understand that! I will find out tonight when I check my balance if she has sent it, I tried to call her before I wrote you but she wasn't in the office. She said if I didn't hear from her that everything was ok. So I haven't heard anything yet. So I will check my balance tonight and let you know something....Melonie

(12/2/06)
I am really sick of everyone thinking I am ripping people off.....YOU will get your money. Please don't threaten me...because I have already got a lawyer into this investigation........Especially Haddad. He is going down hard, and he don't realize it. YOU don't want to be with him. Slander is a crime. I HAVE NOT done anything wrong. So please tell your friends, if anyone else ever tries to contact my family or friends I promise whoever is involved will be contacted. I am not theatening you I am just letting you know. When your friends go on the internet to try to hurt my reputation when I have not done anything wrong That is Slander! and you know that I wouldn't take the time out of my day to worry about it if I was a criminal.....So please let me see what is going on at the bank, and NO I didn't have 3100.00 in the bank before the deposit, so that is why I had to wait on the deposit. You need to calm down, being mean won't get you anywhere!

prior to that email, heres my "threat"

it should be approx almost 6 at your timezone i believe and most banks are closed already. as of now, i have not seen the money... so you should go to the bank tomorow morning and find out what is going on... because i have given you numerous deadlines and each one i was told i would get the money / computer but was never fullfilled. so they can still do the wire transfer on a saturday so you should find a solution to our problem or the problem will get bigger.

(12/23/06)
I will have it out this week. Sorry for the delay, I will contact you on the 27th. Thanks Melonie

(12/29/06)
I am working as fast as I can on this. You will get your money. Just be patient with me. It has been hard on me too. I am sorry for your troubles, but I will promise you will get your money. Just hang in there,......I will be in touch in the next few days. Thanks! Melonie

(1/5/06)
It will go out this Monday. I have been sick with a virus, and haven't been able to do much of anything. I am sorry for the delay. I called the bank to see if they could do it without me coming in and they said I had to sign the papers first. I will contact you Monday. I am again so sorry for everything, Melonie

(1/9/06)
I haven't forgot you, I will send you the info tomorrow with the confirmation number. My husband had surgery today, and yesterday I forgot till it was about 4:00 not that I was putting it off, I was just trying to help him...Again I am so sorry! Melonie

(1/11/06)
Johnson, I do understand and I do know I owe you the money, I do have some of it and was waiting on a check to go into my account for 4500.00. I have been waiting so patiently for it, and I need the difference to pay some medical bills. I am not trying to run from you I promise. It's just that having that amount of money lying around just doesn't happen. I was taken advantage of ....and I am being punished for it. I Am So Sorry for everything. It was my fault in trusting someone and I have certainly learned a lesson.....And no I don't want it to go any further....I don't.....I have an appointment at the tax office tomorrow to see if maybe I can borrow against my husbands tax refund to get you your money. So you nor I will have to wait on the other to be deposited. You have been more than patient. You seem to be a nice person, so I promise you will get your money, I know you have heard this before, but I will. And again it was suppose to be to me by the 9th so that is why I was thinking it would all be taken care of by now. I will make sure to notify you as to what I find out from the tax service. And what I can do to get it to you as fast as possible. If they do allow me to borrow, I am sure it will be a check. That is why I was thinking if I deposit it tomorrow it will show up in my bank by Sat. and then I could get you 3 money orders for 1000.00 each, and send it overnight. That way you will have it.....But let me see what I find out tomorrow. And I will be in touch. I did get your message this morning. I must have been in the bed when you called, again just bare with me, I am trying, and you will get your money. PLEASE? Just a little longer.....It will all be over. Thanks again......Melonie

Actual Protection Policies

#71Consumer Suggestion

Thu, January 11, 2007

PayPal will cover you a 100% if the transactions are truly unauthorized. Meaning someone stole your credit card or really hacked your account to make fraud charges. This doesn't apply if your spouse or child made a transaction with your knowledge. They offer of up to $2,000 on marked free PayPal buyer protected eBay listings. $200 on eBay's standard protection policy, FYI the $25 deductible has gone away for US and Canadian account holders or eBay listings not marked as PayPal buyer protected. Intangible items or "downloads" are not covered. Deposits for vehicles are not covered.

Merchandise disputes are only covered if the transaction took place on eBay. That means if you buy from a merchant and file a complaint and the transaction took place outside of eBay and you have a complaint about merchandise you will have to take it up with the merchant or your credit card company as it will not be covered by PayPal. The only protection extended is Non-receipt cases if the transaction took place outside of eBay from a private merchant. PayPal is nothing more then a Money Processor, they are not an "internet bank" as the many refer to them as. Think of them as the internet's version of a credit card processing machine if you are a buyer. If your claim was denied you might more then just PayPal protecting your consumer rights.

She steals and frauds people so that her son can have a luxury wedding

Melonie is hiding from everyone now and she's not responding to these posts either. She knows that she has been caught and NO one will believe her lies! I just hope that the ones that she has ripped off will contact the police and file a report against her as the other people have said on the post. If anything they need to be emailed through ebay and told what to do, I have contacted a few and gave my suggestions and hope that they will listen to what I said and everyone on here has really good thoughts on this situation and is very supportive also. I figured by now that all the others would come around and also leave a rip off report on her. Most have filed a report through the Better Business Beaurea, but more needs to be done before she rips off more people. She said herself that she is tight when it comes to money and she obviouly doesn't know how to earn a decent living, and then claims she is so honest and that we will all see what a mistake has been made here.

I also researched the wedding with her son that was in a lot of papers last month, and so it has to be a very expensive wedding, (you can view it online). Yes it has to be the same Melonie Hooker because her son looks exactly like her accept for her hair is blonde and you can tell that she dies her hair and his is darker and they have the same facial features. She has to steal from people that may not have a lot of money just so her kid can have a luxury wedding and she is obviously not poor. I don't know how someone can be so dishonest!!!

Hello has anyone seen or heard from Melonie lately. She has not responed to anyone. We would love to hear what you have to say. Dont you have a comment about everything that is said lately. What a coward. I think every one that she riped off sould buy a plane ticket and go to her house, with police of course. I think a plan ticket is worth getting my 3000.00 back. What a plan ticket is aroung 300-500 round trip. Or take a bus, drive any thing to put her infront of the light with the police.

I am sure the local police would LOVE to hear from everyone. Then you can file a claim in small claims court and if she does not show up it is an automatic win for you, then they will put judgement on her, tap into the tax refund, or even her bank accounts. I think that can be done. Not sure but it is worth the shot. So has everyone that she riped off read these post?

I thought with 4 negative feedbacks and complaints that she would be suspended from Ebay, at least that is what was explained to me. If they do suspend her than she will not be able to do a name change because she will be caught and since she is under investigation right now, I am sure she will be suspended soon.

Everyone that opens up an Ebay account with a different name will be caught!! They use your ip address, cookies, credit card information and address to catch you. You would have to get everything cleared, basically like a new identity. They can catch you even if you use the same computer with the ip address as well.

I know a few people that have been suspended for minor things like not paying sellers fees or to many negatives on selling or buying and have been caught immediately and wondered how they got caught. Some people get suspended for a short period but for what she has done and all the complaints on her file she will be suspended indefinately or untill all of the complaints on file are resolved and that would mean her paying back everyone that she has ripped off, and she still will probably not get to sell ever again on Ebay.

That is not enough of a punishment for Melonie though, she should be in court and arrested for this and her family should see what kind of a person she really is.

Melonie1231 is suddenly not offering anything for sale. Four negative feedbacks have been posted about her in the past 6 months, at least two for $3000 computers that were not delivered. If there were four computers that were not delivered that would finance the $12,000 wedding.

Ebay has not revoked her as she is still listed as a member. (Gee, what a surprise.) Will Melonie1231 resurface with a new ID?

Well we allready know that she is a liar, so there is enough said about that because everyone can obviously see it. I agree with the other guy who said about filing a report with her hometown police department and they will investigate her and she will be arrested. All of the other victims need to be emailed and told that what is needed to be done. It is very simple to file a report over the phone and I know that the police dept will do something when they see that she has frauded people out of that much money. Just look on line at superpages and get the phone number for the police department for her hometown and report her, I believe this is the best situation. Also you can go to a local news station or call, and explain to them what is going on as well. Someone needs to contact everyone at Ebay that she has frauded and tell them to report her to the police as well and if a few comply then it wont be long before justice is served. This must be done!

If this is the same Melonie Hooker of Pelzer that I have researched for someone, her son just got married Nov. 18 of this year. And it was a BIG expesive wedding. Must of cost well over 12,000.00 This is were your money went and why you cant get it back. I have a whole file on this women. I am so sorry that she scammed every one. I just thought you would want to know where the money went and why you are NOT going to get it back. File a report with your local police and then file one with her home town. Over 5000.00 of damage is a felony and that person can get 5-10 years in prison. So if everyone she riped off files a report with her home town, they will have to Investigate because of the total amount. Sorry melonie but justice needs to be served

Melonie...

Now you are claiming that you haven't paid people back because someone sent you a counterfeit check? C'mon, it' sone excuse after another. What one person did to you has no bearing on the fact that you have sold a computer at LEAST 4 times so far on Ebay for $3000 and NOT ONE OF THEM HAS BEEN DELIVERED. The fact remains that you sell items for under $10 (really crappy cd's, I have my doubts that you are even selling them to anyone other than you using shill accounts to get your feedback rating up) which all seem to be delivered fine, but yet these computers, gosh darn it, have all kinds of problems.

I too have written to Ebay regarding your account and asking them to look into it.

Oh, and by the way, I'd remove all mention of your other two websites you put into your Ebay auctions, since they seem to not exist anymore either.

First off I would like to say, Ebay would love to know Brandy has been calling me acting on their behalf and threatening me. And I never said my dad had cancer, so don't ever say that again. Yes I have had some family illness and that isn't an excuse that was an explination on why I have been gone so much. If anyone needs to put anything on here about being ripped off it should be me.

I had 2 cases where I was sent 30,000 in a counterfiet check, from a lady by the name of Julie Collins, I will gladly post that document, that is the reason I haven't had any extra money. I would have been able to take care of everything immediately after, but once that check came back, well I had to replace what was not good.No choice the bank pulled it, so what I thought was there, well wasn't. I really am sick of everyone making me look as I am a bad person, I don't need everyone telling me what I need to do, I know what I need to do, and within the next 3 weeks, I will be able to have everything straight, but the harassment and name calling and going into ripp-off reports under made up names, well that is just wrong. That's why I closed my Ebay store because Patrick kept going in and buying items and then leaving negative feedback, Of course Ebay saw that, and fixed it but like I said all will be cleared up soon, and then I hope that everyone will see, I was a victim too.

I am sorry for everyones trouble, and the problems this may have caused, but calling me names and threatening me isn't right. Melonie

#71Consumer Suggestion

I have personally contacted via email all of the people that Melonie1231 has ripped off and only one person has received money back through Pay Pal and the guy told me that he had threatened to get in a plane and fly up to her house to get it, also he had got a lot of other people involved as well. All of the other people have not received there money back yet! Here is Melonie's excuses (1. Spider bite (2. back pain (3. family illeness (4. dad has cancer. There are probably more excuses than that as well.

I even got several emails from Melonie from trying to show my support to those that have been scammed and she has threatened me also. She doesn't understand that we are sticking together untill these people get there money back even if I have to get my lawyer involved. It is sad when I go on to her account and see all the people that she is scamming and her account is not indefinitely suspended from Ebay yet. Why is this?!? It is not long before Melonie is thrown in jail and arrested for frauding people out of thousands of dollars yet she is making her feedback by selling small items. The computers that she is putting up for auction is obvious that they are not in her possession because they are computer generated, but her other items are took from her camera personally. Go to ebay.com and select community link and then type in member id Melonie1231 and click there and scroll through the feedback and see all of the ones that she has ripped off. I hope that a lot of people will help and get involved in this to stop Melonie Hooker.

OP's auction states the following:

#71Consumer Comment

Fri, December 08, 2006

Right within her auction it states:

PLEASE DO NOT BID If you have a feedback score of (0) I sell these items for someone else, and I have had alot of scammers trying to purchase these, and it causes way to much confusion. PLEASE be considerate of my feelings, this is my only source of income, my husband is having surgery and this is how I make my ends meet. So please think before you bid. MY reputation is far to important. Thanks so much.

Couple things:

1. Since you've now "sold" 4 of these $3000 computers, and not one of them has been delivered due to problems with the third party, WHY DO YOU KEEP LISTING THE ITEM? I know if I had ONE problem with a drop shipper and screwing a client over for 3k, I may try ONE more time, but 3? No. Obviously a scam.

2. YOu state that your reputation is far too important, than make it right with the 4 people who have no money, no pc, etc. It appears the only one who made out here was YOU.

3. You have a lot of nerve accusing the people who purchased this PC of being "scammers" when YOU are the only scammer. 4 pc's, listed four different times, not one received? scam!

If everyone paid by Paypal. Why is she sending money orders? If you truly are sending them the money back then send it back paypal. They will have there money in a couple of days. And if you scan the copy of the money order, well that can be made. So there is not real truth that you sent the money.

Send the money back via paypal and everything will be ok. Otherwise you're lieing. And all the sorry stories are not going to work because everyone deals with trouble but they are still accountable for there action. I am going to guess she is no longer going to responed to us, again she will ignore. Prove to everyone you are not a lier, send it paypal. If it acts like duck, talks like a duck and walks like a duck, then its a duck.

Melonie Strikes yet AGAIN!

Another victim of her xps scam emerged today.

Buyer crontab101( 9 )

product never received. promised refund, never received. $3000!!!!!!

Dec-07-06 09:39 xxxxxxxx

The sad part is that the buyer made the purchase over 45 days ago, which will not enable him to file an unpaid item dispute with paypal.

Her scam is simple... act very polite promising the receipt of the item, and citing as many excuses as possible.... then promise the refund...

Her goal is to pass by that 45 day period since she knows it won't be as easy to claim the money.

As usual in all of her posts on here she ignores the facts and direct questions she receives, such as saying that she will post the money orders, and that she was the victim of someone else (who once again, I know for a fact DOES NOT exist) then changes the subject to another personal excuse to try to elicit sympathy and salvage some of her reputation.

I was extremely polite to her as well for the first MONTH until she ignored all of my emails and attempts to contact her after saying that she will send a refund, so I send a nasty email to her, and then she responds ignoring the refund and telling me I'm a bad person for calling her a scammer, and that she no longer wants to talk to me.

The other funny part is that she keeps saying that she is out money as well... which makes no sense since she has not refunded any money.

She will probably respond to this with yet another politely written post ignoring all of the facts and calling me a liar, and maybe another sob story as well.

Melonie- you have my contact information if you ever want to actually pay me or any of your other victims their money.

Look at the sellers account on eBay

Melonie - YOU ARE A SCAMMER!. You sold a nonexistant computer to 3 different people and now you claim you lost money. Since you have failed to provide any proof of refunds it seems you made $9000.00 from illegal sales. How is this a loss to you, please explain?

It is clear to anyone who goes to eBay and looks at your account that you are a THEIF! You can whine all you want but no one who has read you feedback on you knows the truth.

Readers: Go to eBay and look at these 3 sales
280027991223
280017061623
280018009223

Same item, same excuses, same scam.

Melonie, provide some documentation your innocence.
Why did you let your customers to be ripped off 3 times in a row on the same item?
If you "lost money" prove it - post a scan of the refund checks to the 3 sellers who sent you their money and received NOTHING BUT EXCUSES.
If you were scammed once by the true owner of the computer (if there ever was an actual computer) why did you let him scam you another 2 times? Do you feel that your misfortunes should be shared with your customers?

All you do is talk, the readers here research. Remember that in your replies, we are watching melonie1231.

My wife got ripped on an Ebay purchase for several hundred dollars about 4 years ago. The seller threw out every sob story in the world. She was pregnant, etc etc.

It was all lies and she had a criminal history.

To the buyer, you stated that she had listed other computers earlier and they all showed problems with the transaction being completed. So why did you buy from her? I would also contact the police where she lives. That is how we found out others had been ripped. If they get enough complaints that add up to enough $ they will assign a detective to the case and they can be your point of contact.

To the seller, if you mailed a $3000 money order, did you not get delivery confirmation? If not, why? This raises red flags.

Ok, I call BS on Melonies side now, as the scan of the money order is not yet posted.

And Patrick, $3k IS the list price of this computer.
You should have got it directly from Dell, that way you would have RECEIVED it and gotten a warranty.

You know what...I do understand that Patrick lost his money, and I do understand that I lost mine. But what I don't get is how someone can keep saying that I am lying about my family sicknee. My husband just found out he has a tumor on his neck, and so your problems and my problems seem very unimportant to me at this time. He is my family, my husband, and I am doing what I can to make everything right with everyone, but I swear I sent the money order, and as soon as I get home from the hospital I will get the copy and get it and make a copy and send it. I am beginning to wonder about that....but anyway, I appreciate all the feedback! Thanks again! melonie

LOcal businesses

This is why I try not to do business with a company that isn't local. Melonie: ship the man his computer or give him a refund. Doesn't seem too difficult. The amount of money you would spend on an attorney is going to far outpace the money you owe this gentleman. So I am sure he is welcoming your attempts to sue him. And, no, he isn't going to jail. If anyone is going to jail it's YOU for taking money and not delivering. That falls under the definition of FRAUD. So if anyone should be getting an attorney, it should be HIM coming after YOU. Either way, your reputation, such as it is, has been trashed and I am sure you will not get much business from here on out. Instead of yelling and name calling, find a mutually agreeable solution to this problem. This will be of great benefit to you and your customers. Cheers!

Regarding spending 3K for a computer, the computer is a dell xps m2010, and 3 K is significantly cheaper than the list price.

There were actually hundreds of scams regarding this particular item reported on ebay in the last few months, because of the high demand, and high price of the item. That is why I chose a power seller to purchase from with a long history of feedback.

The day after I already sent the funds, then the first negative comment was posted about the same item, from a consumer that purchased it about a month earlier.... so a month earlier he never received the computer as well and was getting ignored by melonie.. yet she tells me that she can have it shipped next day shipping no problem.

Regarding the last name, I was not referring to her last name, I know who she is. I was referring to the last name of the person that supposedly scammed her.

She always called him brian, buy refused to ever give me any more information. If she did I would help her in apprehending him, but after going through the history of our emails it was later obvious to me that brian does not exist at all, and it was a planned scam from the beginning.

She posted the $3,000 computer 9 times on ebay, almost 3 months apart, and there was not one positive purchase, every single one never received the item or the refund. There are 0 positive transactions regarding this item on her profile.

Does it make any sense that if she NEVER delivered the item... and always never gave the refund, that she would continue to sell it? Of course not, she knew exactly what she was doing.

Steven- paypal only insures up to $1,000 right now. I have received the $1,000 from paypal and they have sent melonie to collections already.

What really gets to me and the other victims is the fact that she has actually told me that the money was already sent MANY times over the last few months, and apologized for the past thus far, and cited all kinds of personal family problems.. and it is was always just a lie.

The other victim couldn't even file a claim with paypal, because he trusted her, and it wasn't until after 60 days that he realized she would never send the money.

And I have obviously never threatenened her, or contacted any of her family or anything like that... since this report has been posted there have been other honest people contacting her on my behalf because they felt sorry for me and my situation, and she thinks that they are all my "friends"

All I want is my money returned, and she is willing to say whatever it takes to try to salvage her reputation, and somehow pretend that she is the victim here just because she doesn't want to give the money back.

If you click on her profile in ebay, and a past item in an auction, you will see that her paypal account is now limited and no longer allowed to recieve funds, that is because of the ruling against her.

Never sell something you do not have

#71Consumer Suggestion

Mon, December 04, 2006

Melanie's big mistake was offering merchandise that she neither owned nor had in her possession. If she would have asked herself why this third party doesn't sell the computers himself she would have seen this scam coming. Instead of getting rich quick she now owes big refunds to a bunch of buyers.

I buy and sell on eBay quite frequently. I never buy anything that costs more than I can afford to lose because the seller may be a scammer, although in seven years I have only been scammed once for a total of $12. I also make a point of asking a seller if he has the item in his possession before making a bid. If not, I go elsewhere. I never offer anything for sale that I do have in my possession.

Check out other reports on the ROR about Ebay and you will see that many stem from sellers offering goods that they intended to purchase after the auction ended.

Paypal Information

#71Consumer Suggestion

Mon, December 04, 2006

In reference to the buyer:

My name is Steven, and I own a large advertising company in North East Texas called HWH Networks.

I do a lot of work with PayPal because they handle many of my companies online transactions.

When you agree to PayPals terms of service, you also say that you understand their policies of operation.

PayPal provides protection to the buyer for up to $10,000. My advice to you would be to contact PayPal and tell them that you never received the item(s) in question, then have them deposit the money back into your account.

This should end all of your problems.

If you have any questions about PayPal or how to resolve this issue you can e-mail me at sdhartley@suddenlink.net or at President@hwhnetworks.com

I wish you luck!!!

Still waiting for answers

#71Consumer Comment

Mon, December 04, 2006

Still waiting for Patricks answer about why he would buy a 3k computer on Ebay? You can get that computer straight from the manufacturer for that price.

Still waiting for Melanies scan of the money order. That would solve this real fast.

After looking at each of their feedback on Ebay, I am leaning towards believing Melanies story.

However, It looks like Melanie's bad feedback is a result of her selling these computers for someone else. That wreaks of a scam to me, (with Melanie being the victim of the scam, that was then passed on the others).

Patrick, you lose credibility when you say she wont give you her last name when it is clearly listed in the title of this report! Also, IF paypal sided with you as you say, post the actual message you recieved from Paypal here.

SHE NEVER SENT ME A CENT - She is completely lying on here

#71Author of original report

Sun, December 03, 2006

Melonie ignores all of my phone calls and inquiries, and for her to post on here that she sent me a money order is another crime.

I have been talking to another consumer she ripped off, and she has been promising him that she will send the money everyday as well and coming up with new excuses.

The best part is that she keeps tellig both of us that we are the scammers.... when all she did is rip us off.

SHE NEVER HAD THE COMPUTER... EVER

And refuses to give a last name or any other information about the other person she says that ripped her off that she was selling the computer for.

Melonie- I have proof that you ripped me off, and paypal agreed when they ruled in my favor, for you to make claims aboiut facts that are 100% incorrect, such as the money order is another crime in itself.

I will continue to post more and more of these reports online in different areas and contacting as many people as possible... all you need to do to stop it is to stop lying and pretending that YOU are the victim, and send me my money.

Your other victim will be doing the same as well.

Seller's responibility

#71Consumer Comment

Sun, December 03, 2006

Granted there is a line between wanting satisfaction in a transaction gone wrong and harrassment, as the seller it was Melonie1231's responsibility to indeed HAVE the item she was selling on eBay.

It doesn't matter if she was selling the item for someone else or not; she posted the item and collected the money. It is her responsibility to deliver the item or refund it. Her good intentions here are irrelevant.

$3000.00 is not a small amount of money. If it's not refunded I would definitely file criminal charges.

Thanks so much Steve for your input, You know what I will do that, and on top of that, he is having people calling acting on the behalf of Ebay, telling me I am going to jail for 5-10 years. Calling me a criminal, and that isn't just on the internet. His harassment even caused me to close my store. He has done nothing but try to hurt me. He doesn't have a heart. I was selling these computers for someone else, after the orders were placed, I would send the money to him. I have been trying to find him, with no luck. So I am paying BACK THE PEOPLE THAT DID'NT GET THEIR COMPUTERS OUT OF MY MONEY! I am out the money myself. But I am trying. He is just being mean now, and I don't know what else to do but get an attorney to put a stop to this. But thanks for your input, I do appreciate it. Melonie

Questions for both of you..

#71Consumer Comment

Sun, December 03, 2006

First to you Patrick, why the heck would buy a $3000 computer on EBAY? What brand is it?

Second to you Melanie, If you sent Patrick a money order for a refund(?), why not scan it and post it here?

P.S. Slander is verbal, Libel is written; though it doesnt really matter when it comes to the internet since there have been several court rulings that say internet postings are "free speech" and you generally can not take any legal actions based on something someone has posted on the internet.
