Melting Pot- Jim Materese Horrible s****.>
This restaurant was by far the WORSE place I've ever worked. Not only did they expect you to work 16 hour days with no breaks when they first opened but they favored 21 yr old male college students. If you did not fall into that category you got screwed and treated like a piece of crap. The owner, Jim, looks down on most people and somehow thinks he's better than everyone.
After they worked me like a slave the first month, they hired more people and I was relegated to 3 hour lunch shifts which caused me to make under minimum wage some weeks, for which I still have not been compensated. After asking each manager, one of which got fired for sexual harrassment and the other who was barely 21 and basically useless, what I was doing wrong and what I needed to improve on in order to get better shifts I got the reply "You're great, nothing's wrong". The owner basically just didn't like me because he's a bourgeois snob so instead of being straightforward and either confronting me or firing me, he took the weasels way out and forced me to quit by making sure I made less money than I would working at Taco Bell.
The turnover rate at that place is higher than any restaurant I've ever seen, people only last a few months, which leads me to believe it's not me. He also fired one of my friends, then when my friend went to apply for unemployment, Jim told them he quit. The man has neither the personality or character to be a decent employer. Unless you're a good a*s kisser and a young male in college, do yourself a favor and go apply at The Cheesecake Factory.

your completely incorrect. People with BAD ATTITUDES get bad shift and bad hours. Do not make excuses why you hate your life and take it out on customers.

It is unfortunate that this site is being used as a sounding board for an underperforming employee. These allegations are completely false. Even though this employee did not have the courage to sign their name I know exactly who it is and it is not surprising. This employee was subpar and as a result did not make any money. I do not control the tips my employees make, they do by giving outstanding service and clearly this employee did not. This employee has a history of moving from job to job and was unemployed for a long time after leaving my restaurant. I encourage anyone to talk to my current employees to see what type of employer and person I truly am.
