I recently purchased what I thought was my dream car, a 2009 BMW X5, through my State Credit Union! Since I understood the history of the car and it's costly repair and maintenance problems, I was offered and purchased a mechanical repair warranty for the vehicle. Basically trying to purchase a piece of mind! Wrong! I purchased the BMW with only 75600 miles on it! Beautiful car. Runs great. No problems! NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AT PURCHASE! A couple of weeks in to owning the car , the dreaded check engine light comes on! So I call my warranty comany(mrc) and ask them am I covered? To which the nice young lady in customer service replied, "yes!" She also instructed me that i could take the vehicle to any repair center, because of the limited choices they had as "preferred " reapair facilities, and that my choice of facility could quite possibly change the amount of my deductible! Cool! No problem! I just want my car fixed!

In the process of this I ordered a new set of rims and tires, which normally come on the 4.4i with the sport package (the staggered look, wider in the back and two rim sizes taller)! Had them installed professionally! I think that was on a Friday! I took the car to be serviced on a Monday evening after I got off work! Tuesday afternoon the parts department guy at the BMW dealer told me they contacted my warranty company (mrc) and filed a claim! He told me that there were a few problems with the car, possible transmission issues and gasket problems! And they informed me that he would have to keep the car for an additional 24 to 48 hrs, because MRC WAS SENDING OUT AN ADJUSTER! (Sound familiar?)

Well two days later and no word from mrc or the BMW dealer I decided to go on line and check the status of my claim! No new information! So I decided to call mrc and ask them about the status of my claim! I spoke with a customer service agent who informed that my claim was denied! She said they had told BMW a little over two hours ago that the claim was being denied because of modifications to the car (the rims that basically come on some BMW models) and other costly pre existing leaks and conditions! When I explained to the sadly mistaken and overwhelmed customer service agent that the check engine light came on before I changed the tires to the so called modified tires so it couldn't have had anything to do with the check engine light! I also informed that the car drove fine there were no leaks or any problems from what I could see with the vehicle at the time of purchase! And since mrc doesn't check the vehicles it puts under warranty before they accept your money and your contract, how could they deny you for a pre existing problem if neither you or them were aware of it! The Customer service just continued to tell me that my claim was denied and would remain that way! Then when asked to speak with a supervisor she put me on hold, then transfered to a a supervisors extension who never picked up! I thought, is this really the piece of mind I was purchasing. I paid 5000 dollars for this!

At this moment I still haven't heard from the BMW dealership or the mrc supervisor whose extension I left a message with! I just want mrc to honor the warranty contract or return my money! I can use that to repair my vehicle! We both know that these claim denials were bogus! If you are using these guys and haven't made a claim, get your money back. If you have an existing claim beware and prepare to get denied for what ever reason they can think up! So if your thinking about using mrc, one word, DONT! If any one knows the proper steps to take to get this warranty honored or have my money returned please contact me! THIS WARRANTY COMPANY IS A RIPOFF!
