 I purchased a programmable thermostat on 1/6/16. I decided to go another route as far as purchasing the thermostat that I bought. I brought the thermostat back unopened to the Menards store in Melrose Park, Illinois with my receipt. Instead of giving me cash back, the clerk told me that she would put the money back on my debit card or I could get a store credit. I explained to the clerk that this particular checking account was closed out due to some fraudulent activity on it. Needless to say, I have a different checking account with the same bank. I had the money sent to my old account. My bank said that the funds will go to the new bank account. Menards should have given me the cash back due to my unfortunate circumstances. Don't shop at Menards because you won't get a cash refund. They actually make the customer wait a few days to get their refunds if its done with a bank card.
