I bought a telescope on the mercari buy/sell web site. It was misrepresented as to what type of telescope it was - it was a design with known issues the seller did not divulge. Also, there were parts missing and a broken focuser. The seller refused to provide a return address.
Mercari also refused to help because I had "three days to inform the seller of issues." Item was received on Saturday and complaint was made Tuesday, that's three days. Also, Sunday was Easter so technically I let them know in TWO DAYS.
The seller who lied about what kind of telescope design it was hid behind the three day rule and even though I told him I knew he lied in the listing he should provide a return address. But he got away with this one. And he knew it. Nobody wants the "Bird-Jones" telescopes (no longer made because they never worked right). He listed it as a reflector, and on that premise I bought it. I would NEVER buy a Bird-Jones, nor would anyone, and he knew that so he lied.
Worse, MERCARI brick walled me and refuses to help. That's the last they'll see of me. This is a buy/sell web site that screwed me on my first transaction and there will not be a second. Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me.
