Complaint Review: mercedes benz of chandler

We purchased a pre-owned 2009 mercedes slk300 in July 2012. After numerous emails and phone conversations, the saleman assured me the car has had no body work done to it and having a clean car fax. 

Shortly after, the clear coat started peeling off indicating that a poor body / paint repair job was done.

I reached out to the saleman via email several times since the purchase,  but he only responded to me finally after i left a poor google review.

Today, we got a estimate from a local body shop for $5,400 dollars to repaint the affected areas on the car.

This is clearly a case of mis representation of an used auto sale.

With my story, i hope to educate others shopping for used cars to insist upon using a paint meter in their presence to prove no body work has been done to the car.  Car Fax only posts whats reported to them via accident reports. If someone fixes their car outside the insurance company , it will never appear on the carfax.

Today, most all cars are painted by robots, providing a very uniform paint finish thickness, a paint meter will indicate differences,  in fact most used car guys buying at the wholesale auctions use a paint meter to check cars before they buy them.

Dont let happen to you what s happened to us, a carfax clean car turned dirty.
