Call says that your Visa card has been locked and to call an 800 number (said so quickly you could not write it down) or hit 1 to rectify the situation immediately.  The phone number goes back to Merchant Cooperative in South Carolina.  Tons of complaints on the internet about them.  BEWARE!  I do not give out my cell number to anyone but family and friends, and they called my cell (which is on a DO not call list).  If you are on a do-not-call list, file a complaint with the FCC at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm and BBB http://columbia.bbb.org/Consumer-Complaints/

Whenever a complain is made on a website, they promptly deny and request a full name, business name, and telephone number.  Why would any individual who has no interest in this company nor need to expose themselves to an unreputable company want to post this information online for a complaint!  I am not a competitor (as they often say in their replies), but an upset individual who does NOT want them calling my cell phone in the evening.  How many individuals actually hit "1" and gave them their full credit card number over the telephone?  Horrible...

They have claimed in other complaints that they had to move their business from 668 Marina Drive Charleston, SC 29492 because they needed more state of the art facilities.  Google both addresses and look at street view.  Says it all...

I do not work for the company. I actually interviewed with them today and wanted to do some research on them.

I think it is unfair for them to be abused online by you and your strange claims.

Now you said WHO would want to post their cell # and info on here so that they are called by the company ...blah blah blah.

I think that you 100% lying about your claim. Reason being, if I had a complaint with a company that scammed me,  you are d**n right I would want them to have my cell and name so that they DID in fact call me at night, day , 2am or whatever! I would want the matter solved.  You are just making a claim and then running to another site to post something else.  Were you in a signed contract with them and they would not let you out of it? Did you work for them and get fired for crappy performance? What did you do that you will not call these folks on the side and figure it out.  Why dont you call them right now and tell them what you are unhappy about, instead of using the computer to post your odd thoughts.  If I have a problem with Sprint, then I call sprint. If they do not fix my problem and I want to tell eveyone about it. I will post it in a forum (I guess) and would be glad to give them my info if they came into that forum wanting to help me.  Stop being ridiculous.

Merchant Cooperative Phone Call Rebuttal

#4UPDATE Employee

Wed, February 10, 2010

The incident referred to on this website or in this blog did not involve Merchant Cooperative in any way.  Rather, an unidentified automated voice message system was programmed to continuously call random telephone numbers and refer to a problem involving credit card numbers, the Quincy Federal Credit Union, and Merchant Cooperative.  These calls have been under investigation by local and federal law enforcement authorities.   Most importantly, Merchant Cooperative has absolutely nothing to do with the problem, and has no information about the message, its contents, or who sent it.

Again, I cannot overemphasize that the name Merchant Cooperative was used without authorization in a pre-recorded message by an unknown person concerning a problem that may or may not exist, and that does not in any way involve Merchant Cooperative.  We apologize to anyone who may have received this fictitious message, and Merchant Cooperative assures its customers that it remains ready, willing, and able to continue to provide the superior level of credit card processing services that it has always provided to its merchants.

In relation to the Google photo; the referenced material is sorely out of date as that was our previous location and to this day contains many legitimate offices, stores and restaurants that, since the production of the aforementioned photo, have been constructed and are currently operating. The location of our new office building is in Goose Creek, SC.

An Update:  This companies calls went from one cell phone number to the next with all caller id's being to the same telephone number!  This actually made our local news!  This company appears to be switching from scamming customers wanting to utilize their "services" for credit card machines to individual credit card users.  Our local station is investigating and the police are involved.
