Merchants Credit Guide Company ripoff Don't fall for it Report them Chicago Illinois
I recieved a bill stating that I owed money to a Cheasapeake ER Medical Association for services I suppose to have received in 1996. I call to inquire, however they were unwilling to give me any information about this bill. They just stated that I owed this amount and if I wanted any information I had to request this information in writing. Then they could give me the information. As I continued to ask questions they hung up the phone after yelling at me about the questions I were asking. Please do not fall for this scam.

I don't know if debt collectors are legally required to provide information only upon written request, but it seems to be the case with those I have dealt with. If I were you, I would not sink to their level by screaming/cursing over the phone, since it's the last refuge of a beaten man (or in the case of many debt collectors, an addict barely holding on to his/her job). I would also send a letter requesting debt validation, return receipt requested. Either they will send you information and continue to pester you for payment, or you won't hear from them again.
