These guys changed my policy from 380.0 a year to 1000.00 without me knowing it. i tried to call them and ask them and the mgr was so rude i hung up She would not even answer simple questions I paid 549 which should cover plpd for a year but she said i need 1000.00

i did an online quote and it was only supposed to be 320.00 for a whole year!!!

how do they stay in business with these tactics and refusal to speak to you

First and foremost, Mercury does not market their policies directly to the public. It sounds like you contacted your agent for a quote. Which, if that is correct, your agent is the problem. I would suggest that you contact your agent and ask them to clarify the change and by who's authroity is was made. Furthermore, I can see no circumstance that the policy would be arbitrarily changed without a request made in writing by either the insured or electronically sent by the agent. You can always call Mercury's customer service line @ 800-924-9225 and tell them the problem. You can also ask them to find out where the request came from so you can get to the bottom of this. You can also have it documented that you did not want the coverage change done.

I find this to be true most of the time:
Quick to judge, quick to anger....slow to understand.

Illegally changed policy to full coverage?

#5Consumer Comment

Tue, October 16, 2007

An insurance company will not change your policy (without permission) unless your policy does not meet the requirements set forth by the state or unless you only applied for Liability coverage on a Financed vehicle. If a vehicle is financed, your finance company can and will require full coverage to protect the vehicle THEY OWN!! Was your car financed?
