This company handles fulfillment for Vanity Fair magazine.  I noticed an auto-renew charge on my credit card bill and called right away to get it removed.  That was done.  So why am I posting?  During the call I asked if I had inadvertently approved auto-renewal when I last ordered the magazine.  The answer was no, that auto-renewal is their default method, and that if you do not want to renewed automatically it's your responsibility to make a call to them and request that they not charge your credit card repeatedly.  Permission is never asked. This also means that they keep your credit card number on file, which is a security risk that I choose to avoid with all online shopping sites.  This shouldn't be legal.  But apparently it is, so if you find this practice unacceptable do not pay for magazine subscriptions with your credit card.  I won't be paying for subscriptions in any manner from now on if they are processed in Boone, IA.
