I had reported this apartment complex before for charging too much and now I have caught the manager outright lying. 3 or so months back, we had reported mold in our closet. I and my wife saw them wash out the closet and paint. When we moved out, they claimed they had sheet rocked the outdoor closet and the company was charged for that repair which was not done. Our next door neighbors had reported a possible mold issue, but did not report it due to fear of reprisal. The manager claims the only issue she had with us is thier no pet ploicy, and yet, she has a zoo, and they cleaned out and fixed our celing three times ( not one, like they claim) and all three requests were not included with thier final rebuttal.

they were claiming they were going to keep our entire deposit plus try and charge us for a week we were not going to be present. We should not have to pay for mamnagment that is not avalable on weekends and does not want to hear about things being fixed.

Under new management

On behalf of our company Meridian Management Group and The Marlow Apartments I would like to say that Marlow Apartments have been under new management for 3 years now. The complex is very well run and managed. It is a very clean and safe place to live. The rent is affordable and so is the deposit. It is located in a great area. We do not like to hear of the issues from the past and work hard all the time to make this a great place to live. Meridian Management prides themselves in being a reputable company who care about their tenants.

Lanlords/ we aren't done...yet

A week ago Wednesday, I had called Meridian wondering where our deposit was( They had already filled our prior apartment, so thier was no good reason to hold on to it, for cleaning, ect,) and the office manager there had said, Ms. Kettle had not sent it out. The office manager had Ms. Kettle over night the paperwork, then we finally got our deposit, this is where it gets a bit strange. A week ago today, a fire broke out in the main office, destroying all the contents of the office ( paperwork and computer).

We went down there to see if our friends were ok, and Ms. Kettle told us we were not allowed there anymore. When we told her we were visiting friends, she said you are not residents here and you are tresspassing ( she threatened to have us arrested if we didn't leave) and when we further asked, well we can't visit our friends, her response was " not with tenants we are having problems with."

We reported this incident and also pointed out, that the last Wedsesday, we informed the office manager might have been embezzeling and they should investigate. This is the same lanlord, that knows we will help clean, paid rent on time and all of our neigbors know we are nice people ( and has said in past that we are good teneants, and we do not cause propblems).

We find it highly suspicious that with us calling about possible fraud and imbezzelment, three days later, a fire destroys the front office?! The nature of the fire has not been determined as of yet, but we reported this to the Press Democrat ( our local newpaper) and her boss in San Francisco. We have not heard anything back.

It is possible, he has not spoken with her, due to the front office phone being down ( what about her home phone?) And when we were leaving the property ( I did not want to get into it with her, our kids were with us, and I don't like confrontations in front of my kids and wife)she told the maintenence guy ( we do not blame Billy for any of this!) not to let us on the property anymore. I have been told that unless she has a restraining order, what she is doing is illegal, we have never caused a problem, and we should not be held accountable or be sorry for that matter, to a manager that lies, stonewalls, plays games, back stabs, or attempts to bully us, because we think she's been busted and that might be the reason ( we think she started it to hide evedence, a retired fire chief and a friend of ours that is a building inspector has backed this up) she has probable cause, opportunity ( she lives on the grounds) and a motive. I was a cop un the US Navy for 3.5 years and did reports and investigated before.

I hope that at this point, some very serious investigating is done, what we thought was a simple misunderstanding, may be much bigger than the both of us had anticipated, and this issue may have been occuring for a long time, but I also believe, this is the first time the whistle has been blown on her, and she's running scared. I don't want to see anyone get hurt by her again! So go for it and let the chips fall where they may.

Final Update ( we hope!)

Well, the manager finally refunded our deposit, after (again!) speaking with Meridian and pointing out when we moved out and for a reason we cannot guess, she had not turned the paperwork in. It was only when I sicked her boss on her, she is not only dishonest, but very lacking in a desire to keep good tenants, let alone, have any referrals! I hope the misbilling and overall audit will happen so no other tenants are subject. She is used to people just putting thier tail between thier legs and running, we are not mean people, we just want to be sure a lesson is learned and whatever needs to be done, will be!

Further injustice/ Lanlords

According to the accounting office in San Francisco, Ca, the manager, Debrah Kettle, she has not turned in the paperwork stating we have moved out, and is holding our deposit, I further informed the mangement group of the dishonest billing by the vconstruction company, which was backed up by Ms. Kettle in regards to repairs they claim they did, and billed the property management with.

They only cleaned, and painted the out door utility closet, they did not sheet rock it as both parties claim and have billed Meridian for. This could be construed as fraud and needs serious attention. We further believe, that Ms. Kettle is withholding the paperwork until a full month had passed.

although we a greed to be responsible for the costs in the beginning, but since we have recieved nothing but the run around, headaches, and business practices that should not be tolerated, we feel we should not have to pay for crummy service, lack of consistancy in rules and this situation now. We hope this is fowarded to the proper persons for review!

This is fraud and we hope the proper justice is done.

As an addition, we had requested that Marlow Apartments fax to a prospective apartment community that we have paid on time and were good tenants, they also mention in the fax the only issue the had with us was the no pet policy, even though in our lease, it states you may have an indoor cat, plus the manager has a zoo( 3 dogs, rats, bunny, which Mr. Wilson threw in our face) And it was only after speaking to Mr. Wilson that anything was sent or done, the manager stone walled ,refused to answer the phone or call the other community, she claimed even upon our departure, she did what she was told by her boss, which is a lie.

Also in the final clean up report, the construction company claimed they sheet rocked the utility closet outside, where we had reported a mols problem.

All the contractor did was wash it out, I informed the manager that was all they did, and then they painted, but in the paperwork from the construction company and move out, they state it was sheet rocked and that the construction company billed Meridian for repair work not completed as stated. Plus the manager backed this up in her report, which we recieved copies of. This is fraud and we hope the proper justice is done.
