Complaint Review: Merrick Bank Card Services

My wife origionally had a Get Smart card through Providian, who sold it off to, we were told Emerge. However, the payments were to be sent to Card Service Center who said the represented Emerge. We went into credit couseling and a proposal with the account number and name on the account was sent to Emerge, who accepted and accepted the payments for 5 months.

We have been contacted by Merrieck stating our account is 210 days delinquent and that our account is $500.00 past due. After finally contacting Card Service Center as we were not allowed to deal with Merrick, they said that they had not received any proposal or payment. Another proposal was sent to the contact point they provided at that time.

One month later, we are notified that we have not taken action on tha account and that the account will be charged off and turned over to a collection agency. Our credit counseling service stated that they contacted Merrick and that the paperwork had been misplaced. With the way that we have bounced between banks and calling centers and customer reps, I am convinced that they are trying to milk every time whether morally or not from their unwitting victioms.
